About this role

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Design Engineer to support the design and development of transmission systems used in Medium Wheel Loader applications. This role supports New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), cost reduction initiatives, field issue resolution, and factory support. The engineer will work with gears, bearings, shafts, seals, and other rotating drivetrain components while collaborating with global engineering, manufacturing, validation, supplier, and purchasing teams. Responsibilities

- Create and modify 3D models and engineering drawings in Creo and release designs through Teamcenter.
- Support design reviews and component development for transmission and drivetrain systems.
- Investigate field and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and present findings and recommendations.
- Evaluate manufacturing deviation requests and determine appropriate disposition of nonconforming components.
- Provide engineering support to the East Peoria manufacturing facility for transmission assembly and test activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, validation, procurement, supplier quality, and controls engineering.
- Research and evaluate new drivetrain technologies to support future product development.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with transmission, drivetrain, powertrain, or engine component design.
- Proficiency with Creo or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience working with rotating mechanical components such as gears, bearings, shafts, or seals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- Teamcenter experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments.
- Structural analysis, failure analysis, or product validation experience.
- Prior Caterpillar experience or familiarity with Caterpillar products and processes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $54.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
