Job Description

Brookfield is seeking an Associate, Investments to join its Infrastructure investment team in New York, with a primary focus on Brookfield’s flagship infrastructure fund series.

The Associate will be a core member of the investment team responsible for evaluating, executing and managing infrastructure investments across sectors and geographies. The role provides broad exposure to the full investment lifecycle, including origination, financial analysis and underwriting, transaction execution, financing, portfolio company strategy and asset management.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior investment professionals and Brookfield’s operating teams on complex, large-scale transactions and will have the opportunity to develop as a generalist infrastructure investor across utilities, transport, midstream and data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Analysis & Execution

- Evaluate potential investments across Brookfield’s core infrastructure sectors, including utilities, transport, midstream and data infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses, financing cases and investment return scenarios.
- Assess business plans, industry dynamics, competitive positioning, contractual frameworks, capital structures and key investment risks.
- Lead and support transaction due diligence across financial, commercial, operational, legal, tax, technical and financing workstreams.
- Prepare investment committee materials and clearly articulate investment theses, key risks, value creation opportunities and expected returns.
- Support transaction structuring, financing, negotiation and execution from initial evaluation through closing.

Origination & Investment Strategy

- Conduct industry, market and company research to identify attractive investment themes and opportunities across Brookfield’s core infrastructure sectors.
- Support the sourcing and evaluation of proprietary and intermediated investment opportunities.
- Develop perspectives on sectors, geographies and individual businesses to inform investment strategy and capital deployment.
- Build and maintain relationships with management teams, industry participants, advisors and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate creative transaction structures and opportunities to establish, acquire and scale infrastructure platforms

Portfolio Management & Value Creation

- Work alongside Brookfield’s operating teams and portfolio company management teams to develop and execute strategic and operational initiatives.
- Monitor investment performance and key business and industry developments.
- Evaluate opportunities for organic growth, M&A, financing, capital investment and other value creation initiatives.
- Support strategic decision-making throughout the investment lifecycle, including business planning, capital allocation and monetization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with Brookfield investment and operating professionals globally to evaluate and execute investment opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal legal, tax, capital markets and other functional teams throughout transaction execution and asset management.
- Leverage Brookfield’s global network, sector expertise and operating capabilities to support investment underwriting and value creation.

Key Qualifications

- Approximately 2–4 years of relevant professional experience, including investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing or another highly analytical investing or advisory role.
- Exceptional analytical and financial modelling skills, with demonstrated experience evaluating complex businesses and transactions.
- Strong commercial judgment and an ability to identify the key drivers, risks and opportunities underlying an investment.
- Demonstrated interest in infrastructure investing and the underlying sectors in which Brookfield operates.
- Highly self-motivated and intellectually curious, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear and concise recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, management teams and external counterparties.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and deadlines.
- Professional, collaborative and team-oriented, with a willingness to take on significant responsibility.
- High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and strong financial modelling capabilities.

Prior experience in infrastructure, power and utilities, transportation, digital infrastructure, energy or related sectors is considered an asset but is not required.
