The Human Resources Specialist serves as the primary HR resource for a branch location, administering HR programs, advising managers on policy and employee matters, leading workforce processes, administering the branch HRIS and working on special projects for the location and region. This position reports directly to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Regional Human Resources Business Partner.
You Will:
- Lead the full-cycle hiring and onboarding process, including job postings, recruiting efforts, resume review, screen applicants, assist with interviews and make hiring recommendations, new hire orientations, and onboarding activities.
- Maintain personnel files and employee records in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Support payroll and timekeeping processes by reviewing branch timecards for each pay period, processing commissions, and bonuses, completing payroll pre-checks, and maintaining payroll accuracy.
- Provide benefits education and assist with benefit enrollment and related processes for new hires and during open enrollment periods.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government requirements, including employment authorization, workers compensation reporting, and other required records.
- Facilitate HR training, including onboarding, compliance, benefits, and other assigned training.
- Conduct periodic HR audits to support compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws and regulations, identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective action with appropriate follow up and resolution.
- Coordinate employee communications, performance management, engagement initiatives, and other HR programs as needed.
- Partner with managers, employees, and labor union representatives to promote effective labor relations and adherence to applicable collective bargaining agreements, with guidance from the Regional Human Resources Business Partner.
- Investigate and resolve routine employee concerns in compliance with company policy and CBA provisions.
- Lead the monthly recruitment and retention meetings and direct assignments based on branch strategy.
- Work on additional projects under the direction of the Regional Human Resources Business Partner or Corporate Office.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in human resources, including HRIS and payroll system experience.
- Associate degree in HR, business, or related field, or an equivalent combination of HR experience; bachelors degree preferred.
- Current PHR, SHRM-CP, or other professional HR certification or ability to obtain certification within two years of hire.
Work Environment and Requirements:
- Physical Demands/Requirements consist of standing, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching overhead, grasping, seeing, reading, speaking, hearing, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. (14 kg).
- Indoor office environment, with regular visits to the industrial plant floor of a typical industrial laundry facility or depot.
- Occasionally travel by car to assist in the execution of duties. May need to travel by plane to attend training sessions or corporate meetings.
