- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex or judgment-heavy transactions, including acquisitions or partnership arrangements, stock-based or equity compensation, and new product or service launches.
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve the internal controls environment across the accounting function, including controls specific to drug purchasing, inventory, and third-party payer billing and collections.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar at a strategic level, holding the Controller accountable for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial statements.
- Lead, develop, and scale the accounting organization, including hiring, performance management, and succession planning for the Controller and accounting leadership team.
- Partner with FP&A on the integration of actual results into forecasting, budgeting, and board/investor reporting.
- Oversee tax strategy coordination with external tax advisors, including state pharmacy licensing fees, multi-state sales and use tax exposure, and income tax provision matters.
- Evaluate and implement accounting system and process improvements, including ERP enhancements, as the business scales.
- Present financial results, risks, and technical accounting matters to the CFO, executive leadership, and ownership/board as needed.
