Production Team Lead I

Location : Fife, WA

Shift: Monday – Thursday | 1:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. with mandatory overtime flexibility

Pay: $27.00/hr. - $34.00/hr. + $2.00/hr. shift differential

Position Summary

The Production Lead serves as a hands-on leader responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Powder Coating Department. Working closely with the Shift Supervisor, this role helps drive safety, quality, productivity, and team member engagement while ensuring production schedules and customer requirements are achieved.

The Production Lead provides direction and support to team members, assists in troubleshooting equipment and process issues, coordinates departmental workflow, and supports training and continuous improvement efforts. This position is expected to actively work on the production floor and provide direct labor support as needed.

Responsibilities

- Lead daily Powder Coating operations in accordance with safety, quality, and production standards.
- Support the Shift Supervisor in coordinating staffing, workflow, and production priorities.
- Assign work, provide direction, and ensure team members have the tools and resources needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
- Monitor production output, quality, downtime, and departmental performance metrics.
- Troubleshoot equipment, process, and product quality issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Ensure manufacturing orders, production documentation, and quality records are completed accurately and on time.
- Train, coach, and support team members on standard operating procedures, quality expectations, and safety requirements.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Logistics, and other departments to support operational goals.
- Perform production duties and operate equipment as needed to maintain productivity and customer commitments.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety policies, PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, and environmental procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Provide a thorough and organized shift handoff to incoming personnel.

Qualifications

Required

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two years of manufacturing experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately read a tape measure.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Preferred

- Previous experience in a Lead, Trainer, or Supervisory role.
- Experience in powder coating, paint systems, finishing operations, or related manufacturing processes.
- Forklift operation experience.
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
- Experience working with production metrics, quality systems, and employee training.

Physical Requirements

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in high heat environments up to 110 degrees
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and respiratory protection when required.
- Ability to safely operate manufacturing and material handling equipment.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and moving equipment.
