Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Wire Rope Sling Fabricator to join our team in Anaheim, CA. This hands-on role fabricates wire rope slings and related rigging assemblies used in industrial lifting applications. The Fabricator follows approved work orders and fabrication procedures to measure, cut, assemble, and inspect products while maintaining accurate identification, traceability, and a safe, organized work area.
Responsibilities:
- Review work orders, drawings, and approved specifications to identify wire rope type, diameter, finished length, fittings, and assembly requirements.
- Measure and cut wire rope using designated equipment and approved handling methods.
- Fabricate sling eyes and assemble sleeves, thimbles, hooks, and other specified fittings according to approved procedures.
- Operate swaging presses and other fabrication equipment only after training and authorization; use the specified tooling and machine settings.
- Inspect rope, fittings, and completed assemblies for visible damage, dimensional accuracy, and conformity to work order requirements.
- Attach required identification tags and verify that product information matches approved records; refer load-rating questions to qualified personnel.
- Maintain material traceability and record fabrication, inspection, and testing information as required.
- Assist qualified personnel with proof testing and related documentation when assigned and trained.
- Identify and segregate nonconforming materials or assemblies and notify the supervisor before further processing or shipment.
- Coordinate with customer service and production personnel to clarify order details and communicate job status or material shortages.
- Package completed products and assist with staging, inventory counts, shipping, and receiving as needed.
- Complete routine equipment checks and report damaged tooling, maintenance needs, and unsafe conditions.
- Use required personal protective equipment and follow machine guarding, material handling, and applicable energy-control procedures.
- Maintain an orderly work area and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read work orders, follow fabrication instructions, and use measuring tools accurately.
- Basic math skills, including working with fractions, decimals, and units of measurement.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn safe operation of cutting and swaging equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and accurate documentation.
- Ability to identify visible material defects and escalate questions or discrepancies.
- Effective communication, teamwork, dependability, and ability to manage production priorities.
- Basic computer or data entry skills for recording work and inventory information.
- Knowledge of wire rope construction, sling components, and rigging hardware preferred.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in wire rope sling fabrication, rigging assembly, manufacturing, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Experience operating swaging presses, cutting equipment, or other industrial machinery preferred.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred; equipment operation requires applicable training and company authorization.
- On-the-job training in company fabrication methods, quality procedures, and safe equipment operation will be provided.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position in Anaheim, CA, working in a fabrication shop and warehouse environment. Work hours and overtime needs are based on production schedules.
The role involves extended standing, repetitive hand tasks, bending, reaching, and handling wire rope and metal components. Mechanical lifting aids and team assistance are used for heavy or awkward materials.
The work area may include noise, moving machinery, and sharp wire ends. Required personal protective equipment and safe work procedures must be followed.
