The Assets Field Coordinator- BOP is responsible for coordinating the full lifecycle management of Blowout Preventer (BOP) equipment and related assets, from planning, acquisition, receipt, and deployment through maintenance, certification, utilization, transfer, and retirement. Reporting to the Vice President – BOP, this role ensures assets are safe, compliant, traceable, available, and economically managed to support operational requirements.
This position supervises the Assets Field Technician and serves as a key resource for BOP asset management. The role establishes and enforces BOP asset-management standards, controls asset records and documentation, coordinates inspection and maintenance readiness, and monitors utilization and total cost of ownership. Working across operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, finance, and HSE, the Assets Field Coordinator uses lifecycle data and technical expertise to set asset priorities and make recommendations supporting capital planning, maintenance strategy, operational reliability, fleet optimization, and responsible asset disposition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, assign work to, coach, and support the Assets Field Technician; monitor performance, reinforce safety and quality expectations, and ensure field asset activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Lead the full lifecycle of BOP assets, including demand planning, acquisition, receipt, identification, commissioning, deployment, transfer, maintenance coordination, certification, storage, refurbishment, and retirement or disposal.
- Develop and maintain an accurate asset register with ownership, location, status, configuration, serial number, service history, certification, inspection, warranty, and financial information.
- Establish asset classification, tagging, hierarchy, custody, transfer, documentation, and record-retention standards across BOP locations.
- Partner with operations to forecast asset demand, allocate equipment, coordinate mobilization and demobilization, and confirm assets are available, properly configured, and ready for service.
- Coordinate with maintenance and quality teams to schedule preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, repairs, recertification, and return-to-service activities while minimizing downtime.
- Verify that asset files contain required specifications, certificates, inspection and test records, maintenance history, traceability documents, and other records necessary for safe and compliant operation.
- Monitor asset condition, availability, utilization, reliability, downtime, maintenance cost, repair cycle time, and total cost of ownership; identify trends and recommend corrective action.
- Lead periodic physical inventories and asset audits, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accountability for assets assigned to shops, yards, field locations, and third parties.
- Develop lifecycle plans and replacement strategies based on demand, condition, service history, risk, obsolescence, maintenance economics, and operational requirements.
- Prepare capital and operating recommendations for new equipment, refurbishment, major repair, replacement, standardization, and fleet optimization.
- Partner with supply chain on technical requirements, sourcing, vendor performance, warranties, repair services, critical spares, and material availability supporting the BOP asset portfolio.
- Partner with finance to reconcile asset records, support capitalization and depreciation processes, validate transfers and disposals, and maintain appropriate approval documentation.
- Evaluate repair-versus-replace decisions and coordinate approved retirement, sale, salvage, or disposal activities in accordance with company policy and applicable requirements.
- Serve as the business owner for BOP asset-management system requirements, data standards, workflows, controls, reporting, user training, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and report key performance indicators for asset availability, readiness, utilization, downtime, maintenance compliance, certification status, cost, inventory accuracy, and lifecycle risk.
- Promote compliance with company safety, quality, environmental, financial, and delegated-authority requirements and support audits, investigations, and corrective actions related to BOP assets.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelors degree in business, Engineering, Asset Management, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in asset management, equipment operations, maintenance planning, reliability, materials management, or a related function within well control, oilfield services, pressure control, manufacturing, or another industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of BOP equipment, components, configurations, maintenance practices, inspection and certification requirements, repair processes, critical spares, and traceability documentation is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing equipment through acquisition, deployment, maintenance, transfer, inventory control, financial reconciliation, and disposition.
- Ability to analyze condition, utilization, reliability, downtime, maintenance cost, and other lifecycle data and translate findings into operational and capital recommendations.
- Strong project management, financial judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish accountability and influence cross-functional stakeholders, field teams, and service providers.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management, enterprise resource planning, or asset-management systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; relevant asset, maintenance, reliability, or project-management certification is preferred.

This position works in office, shop, warehouse, yard, supplier, and field operating environments. The employee must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, use a computer and standard office equipment, communicate effectively, walk and inspect equipment in industrial areas, and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Operational visits may involve noise, weather, uneven surfaces, moving equipment, and other industrial hazards and require compliance with site-specific safety rules and use of required personal protective equipment. Regular travel to BOP operating and service locations may be required.
