Your Opportunity

BDO Canada is looking for a Manager to join the Expatriate Tax Services team in Montreal. The successful candidate will provide tax compliance and advisory services to globally mobile employees, executives, and corporate clients while supporting the continued growth of the practice. The successful candidate will also own the following responsibilities:

- Manage the preparation and review of Canadian and U.S. individual income tax returns for internationally mobile employees and executives
- Provide day-to-day expatriate tax advice related to employee relocations, cross-border tax obligations, payroll reporting, taxable benefits, and employer compliance matters
- Research complex tax issues and prepare client correspondence, technical memoranda, and planning recommendations
- Support clients with executive compensation arrangements, global equity compensation plans, tax equalization policies, and other mobility-related matters
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, high-quality service delivery
- Collaborate with partners and professionals across Canada to support client needs and identify opportunities for cross-service line engagement
- Assist with business development initiatives, proposals, and client presentations to support the continued growth of the practice
- Coach, mentor, and develop junior team members while contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture
- Stay current on Canadian, U.S., and international tax developments impacting globally mobile employees

Your Experience and Education

- CPA designation, or equivalent professional accounting designation
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Canadian individual tax, with significant exposure to expatriate, cross-border, or global mobility tax matters
- Strong knowledge of Canadian personal income tax and internationally mobile employee taxation
- Experience reviewing tax returns and providing tax advisory services to individuals and corporate clients
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or supervising team members is considered an asset
- Bilingualism in English and French is required due to frequent interactions with English-speaking clients, partners, and team members both within and outside Quebec, as well as the need to prepare and review documentation in both languages
