About Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Accin
Mi Familia Vota (MFV) and Mi Familia en Accin (MFA) are national, Latino-led civic engagement organizations dedicated to strengthening civic participation and building political power within Latino communities.
MFA conducts nonpartisan voter-registration, voter-education, citizenship, and leadership-development programs. MFV advances advocacy, organizing, and voter-mobilization efforts so Latino communities can help shape the policies affecting their lives.
Employees are hired by MF Professional Services, Inc. (MFPS), the employer of record, and assigned to support MFV and MFA programs.
Position Summary
The Door-to-Door Canvasser engages community members in assigned neighborhoods about voter registration, voter education, civic participation, and Get Out the Vote initiatives.
Canvassers travel through assigned areas, speak with residents using approved scripts, accurately document voter contacts, and follow all field-safety, data-security, and voter-registration requirements.
This is a temporary position until the midterm elections. Continued employment or an extension of the assignment is not guaranteed and depends on funding, operational needs, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct door-to-door outreach in assigned neighborhoods and communities.
- Engage community members about voter registration, voter education, voting, and other approved civic-engagement programs.
- Use approved scripts, talking points, literature, forms, and digital tools.
- Provide voter-registration applications and authorized assistance in accordance with applicable law and organizational procedures.
- Review forms for apparent completeness and return all completed, incomplete, spoiled, and unused forms as directed.
- Accurately record doors knocked, community contacts, voter-registration activity, responses, and other required information.
- Enter data into MiniVAN, VAN, mobile applications, spreadsheets, or other approved systems.
- Attend required trainings, pre-shift briefings, safety reviews, check-ins, and debriefings.
- Maintain regular communication with the Canvass Lead and promptly report field, safety, equipment, or community concerns.
- Protect voter-registration forms, community information, organizational materials, and equipment.
- Follow assigned schedules, turf boundaries, safety procedures, and reporting deadlines.
- Treat community members, coworkers, and supervisors professionally and respectfully.
- Accurately record all hours worked and take required meal and rest periods.
- Work flexible daytime, evening, and Saturday schedules as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Strong communication, listening, and customer-service skills.
- Dependability, punctuality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow scripts, instructions, turf assignments, safety procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Ability to communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, mobile canvassing application, or similar technology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field team.
- Ability to accept coaching and make reasonable performance improvements.
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
- Previous canvassing, voter-registration, campaign, organizing, community outreach, sales, or public-facing experience preferred but not required.
- Must meet any voter-registration training, certification, eligibility, or appointment requirements applicable in the assigned jurisdiction.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements

- Walk and stand for extended periods.
- Travel throughout assigned neighborhoods, including sidewalks, stairs, and uneven surfaces.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Carry outreach materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Operate a smartphone, tablet, or other field equipment.
- Work evenings and Saturdays, based on program needs.
