This role averages 18–20 patients per day. Call coverage requires travel to and from the hospital, and the office is closed on Fridays.
What Youll Bring
- A current Registered Nurse license and the degree required by the state to obtain Nurse Practitioner licensure.
- Graduation from an accredited program, national board certification, and prescriptive authority.
- Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program with certification from a national Nurse Practitioner certification board.
- At least three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of billing services, and a clear understanding of the physician–Nurse Practitioner–patient relationship.
Your Role: As a Advanced Practitioner, you will partner with supervising and collaborating physicians to assess, manage, and support gastroenterology patients across both clinic and inpatient settings. You will deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in accordance with established standards and practices while helping patients navigate acute and long-term health needs.
What Youll Do
- Serve as a first point of contact for medical triage in the hospital, including new inpatient consults, follow-up visits, and negotiated call coverage.
- Provide care during routine and urgent office follow-ups, provider-requested consults, and new-patient visits.
- Perform large-volume paracentesis when permitted and complete daily rounds on hospitalized patients, including specialized patient populations such as those with hepatitis C.
- Perform physical examinations, document findings, and communicate visit notes and test results to physicians.
- Interpret clinical data and determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians to manage patients acute and long-term medical needs.
- Order appropriate medications, laboratory tests, and diagnostic procedures, and administer medications and injections.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatment instructions, health promotion, and illness prevention.
- Recommend community resources that support patient and family needs.
- Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Triage patient telephone calls, provide consultation, and support continuity of care between physician visits.
- Participate in clinical continuous quality improvement activities.
