Position Overview:

The Underwriting Services Technician is responsible for providing underwriting related services to the Underwriting and Operations teams. This person will work with Starr employees and external partners to ensure prompt response and resolution to various types of requests and calls.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assisting with the reservation and clearance of new and renewal submissions in accordance with established procedures and quality metrics.
- Assisting with the timely response to policy and loss run requests according to Starr Claims guidelines.
- Responding to questions and troubleshooting issues to ensure timely and accurate submission entry and premium bookings.
- Assisting with quality reviews of manually issued binders and invoices.
- Logging receipt of requests for endorsement of policies for record keeping purposes
- Completing submission and payment of business invoices.
- Assisting the primary Booking team with timely completion of Month End Close or other ad hoc booking efforts.
- Fielding miscellaneous urgent tickets and hotline calls per guidelines, directing them to the appropriate individual or department.
- Performing other related work as assigned by management.

Skills and Experience Required:

- Minimum Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Robust communication skills through email, messaging, calls and meetings.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ownership and follow-through for multi-step tasks.
- Ability to operate with agility and efficiency in a team-based environment.
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel a plus.
- Experience in data entry in an insurance, financial services, retail or related business processing environment a plus.
- Experience in customer service in insurance, financial services, retail or related business processing environment a plus.
- Property and Casualty insurance industry experience is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of insurance industry, products and operating environments preferred, but not required.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60,000 - 70,000.
