The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to academic freedom, excellence, and accountability at America’s colleges and universities. Launched in 1995, we are the only organization that works with alumni, donors, trustees, and education leaders across the United States to promote academic excellence, academic freedom, and accountability in higher education.
Position Overview
The Digital Fundraising Intern will help the Development Team to strengthen its donor communications, providing insight into planned donor outreach activities, design assistance, and digital support. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and Philanthropy, this intern will gain hands-on experience in fundraising strategy, digital design, and donor messaging.

Key Responsibilities
- Draft persuasive email copy, support overarching campaign messaging, and write blog posts for the Fund for Academic Renewal.
- Develop and update email templates in Mailchimp and PDF templates for donor reports.
- Design physical and digital fundraising materials and flyers for our planned campaigns (and ad hoc) using Adobe InDesign
- Conduct research on successful digital fundraising campaigns to inform strategy and proactively propose best strategies and innovative ideas for digital fundraising copy.
- Collaborate with staff and manage daily workflows using cross-team project management tools.
Qualifications
- Must be a current candidate for, or recent recipient of, a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Graphic Design.
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, OneDrive) digital design platforms (InDesign and Canva), and email marketing services.
- A strong interest in the higher education landscape and ACTA’s core mission.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience with project management software.
- Digital marketing audience segmentation and A/B testing and evaluation methodologies.

Stand Together Fellowships pays participants a stipend of either $7,500 for full-time participants working approximately 32 hours per week at the partner organization, or $5,500 for part-time participants working approximately 24 hours per week at the partner organization. Attending the entirety of the online and on-site KIP programming is required for both full and part-time participants.
