Position Overview
Working directly under the Senior Manager of Depot Operations, the Cable Depot Manager will be responsible for executing Cable Depot projects including loading and offloading of vessels, tracking equipment, updating inventories, and reporting of operations for department 2106. This position requires various job dynamics encompassing a robust and diverse skill set.
The Depot Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department and all warehousing operations at remote facilities. This role is responsible for identifying and classifying hazardous materials and complying with international and local shipping laws. This role must be familiar with and be complaint with all local and international customs law for bonded warehouses. This role is responsible for conducting safe operations with forklifts, cranes and other specialized equipment to effectively load, and offload goods received and shipped from various platforms including Cable ships, freighters, barges and trucks in accordance with OSHA and company policies.
This individual is responsible for updating records, inventories, invoices and BOLs accurately. The Depot Manager performs periodic maintenance of equipment and scheduling for all Depot buildings, machinery, and grounds in accordance with OSHA and Fire Prevention Plans.
Frequent traveling to and from remote locations will be a standard job function ensuring that all localities, customers, and personnel are aware of planned work to be completed. Role will have a clear understanding of all equipment, can lead others safely, provide clear work instructions, be self-motivated, and have an overall good work ethic while performing all assigned tasks.
The ability to use Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Outlook email. Must have, or be able to obtain, passport, TWIC Card, DOD security clearance, a forklift operators license and Cat 3 Crane Operator certification and rigger certification. Any other MHE certifications would be a plus.
Responsibilities
- This is a customer facing position to walk them through mobilization and demobilization at customer and SubCom commercial depot locations from a cradle to grave process.
- Perform administrative work such as writing remote mission operational plans, equipment maintenance and spare parts database record keeping, report writing, budget submissions and analyses, computer-based training, etc.
- Develop comprehensive maintenance plans for depot locations housing customer gear (customer owned/customer leased).
- Can perform OEM level maintenance and be familiar with all the unique pieces of customer owned cable handling equipment and have the skillset to perform basic onsite troubleshooting and repair of the equipment.
- Manage cable movements and needs of SubCom vessels at the Marine Depot daily.
- Ensure call availability 24/7 in compliance with contracts and emergency response policies in place.
- Travel to and assist with cable loads and offloads at all SubCom domestic and international Depots.
- Effectively manage stevedores, temp workers, customer labor sources, and other third-party support to effectively and safely conduct load and offload operations on company owned vessels, company leased, or customer owned/leased vessels to include freighters.
- Ensure the execution of efficient cable transfers at all SubCom depot locations.
- Customer Estimate Creation - Project Billing Review and Allocation.
- Customer Inventory Management.
- Commercial Invoice Creation and Coordination with Logistics to ensure compliance associated with mobilization and demobilization efforts at private customer locations.
- Collaborate routinely with the commercial depot management group to provide supplementary support during mobilization/demobilization periods and inventory management at all SubCom owned/leased depot/storage locations.
- Assist the commercial depot management group as needed for all private customer-related matters.
- Storage Agreement Management.
- Facilities Management for all SubCom Depots.
- Budget Management for all SubCom Depots.
- Consistently ensures that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with SubCom policies, procedures, and core values.
- Will supervise the installation, setup, and maintenance activities of assigned personnel, and others involved, while at program depot facilities or while aboard ships, at various designated locations worldwide.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience and performing onsite remote cable system setup, and operations.
- Prior Military/Military Mechanical /Technical Engineering experience as plus.
- Assist in physical and mechanical loading and unloading cable containers.
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience refurbishing and/or rebuilding cable handling machinery and associated cable handling equipment and marine systems.
- Possess advanced working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, pneumatic, and plc-based machinery systems. Shipboard systems knowledge as plus.
- Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems drawings, and schematics
- Knowledge or experience in welding, cutting, grinding, fabricating, and painting.
- Ability to Operate, maintain various types of cable machinery including Cable Haulers, Transporters and other types of machinery and equipment.
- Ability to verify material and equipment needed to support remote cable system equipment for installations, repairs and operational requirements.
- Public speaking skills, and ability to articulate to others in meetings, or in public, regarding mission support requirements, and operational efforts.
- Operate Forklifts and CAT III Cranes, and rig equipment for lifting when required.
- Use Microsoft programs to maintain machinery history, quality assurance records, and misc. drawings and technical documentation.
- Forklift Operator and Crane Operator/Rigger certification.
- Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.
- Must be able to obtain security clearance.
- Approximately 50% international travel.
