About this role
Help keep discovery running at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. We’re seeking a collaborative, hands-on facilities leader to guide Building Operations and keep the systems behind our guest experiences running safely, reliably and efficiently.
In this role, you’ll lead and develop a skilled team, coordinate preventive maintenance and urgent repairs, manage vendors, and oversee essential building systems—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life safety. You’ll also manage operating budgets, support capital improvements, strengthen maintenance processes and ensure accurate compliance records. Working across Museum departments, you’ll balance daily operational needs with long-term improvements while building a positive, inclusive team culture.

Hiring Range: $83,500 - $93,500/annually
Work Schedule: 5/8s Mon - Fri, or 4/10s Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri

Essential Duties
- Schedules planned maintenance tasks and provides sufficient capacity to react to critical, unanticipated repair needs. Responds as appropriate to maintenance issues by incorporating the activity plan to resolve the issue.
- Establishes clear, written measurements for staff productivity and reports quarterly to Director of Facilities on performance against those measures.
- Selects, schedules and coordinates with vendors related to life safety, conveyances, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems
- Recommends and implements improvements/upgrades for hardware and software for the Environmental Management Control Systems (EMCS) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Oversees shipping and receiving operations, ensuring safe loading and unloading of freight in compliance with DOT guidelines.
- Monitors, tracks, and reports waste volumes and ensures compliance with environmental regulations. Coordinates disposal of regulated waste and unused or expired chemicals and dangerous goods.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience in all phases of building maintenance and repair.
- 3 years of supervisory experience.
- 2 years of project management experience with construction emphasis.
- Evening/night/weekend and on-call work.
