About this role

It's fun to work in a company where people truly believe in what they are doing. At Dutch Bros Coffee, we are more than just a coffee company. We are a fun-loving, mind-blowing company that makes a difference one cup at a time.

Position Overview:
The Manager, Freight & Logistics owns how product moves across the Dutch Bros network: inbound freight from suppliers and the roasting facility into our distribution centers, and outbound delivery from those centers to more than 1,200 shops. The role is accountable for freight cost, transportation mode and lane strategy, carrier and 3PL performance, and the analytics that hold our distribution partners to measurable standards. It is the enterprise subject matter expert on freight, and a critical enabler of a network on the path to 2,029 shops by 2029. Success looks like shops that never run out, freight cost per case that improves year over year, and capacity secured ahead of growth rather than in reaction to it.

Job Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience, required
- Minimum of 3 years experience in supply chain management, planning, purchasing, or logistics

- Proven experience in 3rd party vendor management

- Experience in ERP systems

- Proficient with Excel, Google Suite, Outlook and Microsoft D365

- Ability to meet deadlines and manage numerous projects, simultaneously

- Ability to effectively communicate shared goals and outcomes across teams

- Ability to think critically and problem solve with numbers

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience communicating with outside vendors

- Ability to support vendor/distributor needs in various time zones

Location Requirement:
This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):
Freight Network & Mode Strategy

- Own the design and continuous optimization of the freight and logistics network, including lane structure, mode selection, delivery frequency, routing guides, and inventory positioning across distribution centers.

- Refresh the network model at least annually and run scenario analysis on every material change to DC footprint, delivery cadence, or market entry, quantifying cost-to-serve and service impact before decisions are made.

- Build and maintain the routing guide and mode strategy across truckload, LTL, intermodal, parcel, and refrigerated freight, targeting 95%+ trailer cube or weight utilization on outbound loads.

- Develop backhaul, consolidation, and vendor-managed inbound programs to convert supplier-prepaid freight to collect where it lowers landed cost.

Carrier & Partner Management

- Manage carrier and 3PL relationships end to end: rate agreements, routing guide compliance, tender acceptance, capacity commitments, and issue escalation.

- Publish monthly carrier and distribution partner scorecards, and lead quarterly business reviews with the partners representing 80%+ of freight spend

- Lead competitive sourcing activity on a defined cycle: full freight RFP every 12, 24 to 36 months, annual rate benchmarking, and pilots of new delivery or logistics models.

- Support the VP, Distribution in top-to-top alignment with partners on strategy, performance, and improvement opportunities, and in contract negotiation and renewal.

Service & Quality

- Aggregate and analyze partner service data to ensure continuous, on-time product availability to every shop, holding the network to defined fill rate, on-time delivery, and order accuracy targets.

- Use predictive and historical KPIs to drive fact-based improvement in delivery quality, with documented root-cause analysis and corrective action on any measure that misses target two consecutive months.

- Own the freight side of shop escalations, acknowledging within one business day and closing 95%+ of cases within five business days.

- Oversee the process for over, short, and damaged (OS&D) claims and cold-chain exceptions.

Cost & Commercial Performance

- Manage freight cost and revenue centers, delivering measurable value to shops while protecting service levels.

- Build and manage the annual freight and logistics budget, landing the year within 2% of plan on a cost-per-case basis.

- Identify, quantify, and deliver an annual savings pipeline of 3 to 5% of addressable freight spend through mode shift, lane and network optimization, consolidation, and rate action.

- Own freight audit and payment: maintain 98%+ invoice accuracy, control accessorial and fuel surcharge exposure, and recover billing errors.

- Model the operating and financial impact of network changes, freight and fuel market shifts, and partner rate proposals, and forecast freight cost per case monthly with a variance explanation.

Growth & New Shop Support

- Ensure the freight network, systems, and partners are ready to support menu innovation, new market entry, and unit growth with zero opening delays attributable to freight.

- Establish delivery service and lane coverage for every new shop and new market ahead of opening, including the parallel flow of equipment, fixtures, and smallwares.

- Identify, develop, and lead new process and system implementations, including TMS capability, freight visibility, and automated reporting, so the function scales ahead of growth without adding headcount proportionally.

Analytics, Systems & Collaboration

- Build and maintain the freight and logistics reporting suite in Power BI, replacing manual reporting with automated dashboards refreshed at least weekly.

- Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert on freight and logistics, supporting other functions as needed.

- Partner across Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Development on cross-functional initiatives that affect shop performance.
