About this role

Role Description

We are looking for an energetic and strategic Public Relations Specialist with a strong background in telecommunications to build and maintain a positive public image for our brand. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Marketing, you will bridge public relations with overall marketing strategy - executing earned media campaigns, shaping core brand narratives, managing media inquiries, and driving integrated awareness initiatives across target B2B and telecom markets.

Remote – this position is 100% remote, ET or CT time zone preferred.

What you will be doing:

Key Responsibilities

Telecom Media Relations & Pitching : Build and maintain active relationships with key telecommunications, broadband, tech, and business journalists; draft targeted pitches to secure high-impact earned media coverage in trade and tier-1 publications.

Marketing Alignment & PR Strategy : Collaborate closely with the VP of Marketing to align external communications, network product launches, and executive positioning with broader company growth goals.

Press Materials & Technical Storytelling: Draft press releases, media kits, white paper summaries, executive Q&As, and briefing documents that translate complex telecom infrastructure concepts into compelling narratives.

Inbound Media & Spokesperson Prep: Serve as the primary frontline contact for media inquiries, vetting opportunities and preparing executives and technical SMEs prior to interviews and panel appearances.

Tradeshow & Event Publicity: Support PR and media engagement surrounding major industry trade shows, product announcements, and executive speaking opportunities.

Media Monitoring & Sentiment Analysis: Track media mentions across telecom and technology outlets, monitor industry developments, and report coverage metrics and ROI directly to marketing leadership.

Crisis & Reputation Support: Assist marketing leadership in monitoring emerging issues, technical outages, or market shifts to execute swift, aligned crisis responses.

What you should have:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated public relations experience (agency or in-house), with at least 2 years focused specifically in the telecommunications, broadband, networking, or tech infrastructure sectors.

Media Network: Proven track record of pitching and securing coverage in key telecommunications and technology trade publications.

Communication Skills: Exceptional written, verbal, and AP Style editing skills, with a demonstrated ability to turn complex technical topics into clear, persuasive stories.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively alongside product marketing, technical subject matter experts, and executive leadership.

Familiarity with PR databases and media intelligence tools (e.g., Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater).

Understanding of integrated marketing strategies, including SEO, digital PR, and account-based marketing (ABM).

Experience with crisis communications or issues management in telecom or tech environments.

Travel

This position requires approximately 10% travel.

Pay & Benefits

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $117,000 - $127,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market, location, and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
