The opportunity

As an Assembler at Ontic, you'll play a hands-on role in building the complex mechanical and electromechanical products that help keep critical aircraft flying. Working from engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions, you'll assemble, install, align and test products while maintaining the precision and quality expected in aerospace manufacturing.

We're looking for Assemblers across a range of experience levels, from people looking to build their skills in precision assembly through to experienced assemblers who can take on more complex work, troubleshoot technical issues and share their knowledge with others.

Depending on your experience, your work may include precision mechanical and electromechanical assembly, soldering, wire and cable termination, calibration and functional testing. You'll work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality to solve problems, improve how we work and consistently deliver high-quality products for our customers.

What you'll be doing

- Assemble mechanical and electromechanical products, subassemblies and finished units using engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications and work instructions.
- Install, align, adjust and fit components using appropriate hand tools, measuring equipment, torque equipment and specialized tooling.
- Perform electrical assembly activities such as soldering wires or electrical components and preparing and terminating wires and cables, including stripping, crimping, pin insertion and connector assembly, as applicable to the work.
- Support inspection, calibration and functional testing activities to verify products meet applicable requirements.
- Identify and troubleshoot assembly or test issues, working with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality to support effective resolution.
- Complete required quality, inspection and production documentation accurately and support improvements to work instructions, tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Depending on your level of experience, support new product introductions and help train, coach and share technical knowledge with less experienced assemblers.

What you'll bring

- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Hands-on mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly experience; the complexity of work assigned will reflect your level of experience and technical capability.
- The ability to read and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications or work instructions appropriate to your experience level.
- Practical experience using hand tools, torque equipment and measuring equipment in an assembly or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with soldering and/or wire and cable termination techniques, such as stripping, crimping, pin insertion and connector assembly, is valuable for this role.
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to safe working, accurate documentation and high-quality workmanship.
- For more experienced opportunities, troubleshooting, calibration, functional testing, mentoring and aerospace, aviation, defense or precision-manufacturing experience are particularly valuable. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma knowledge would also be advantageous.
