Position Overview
The MedTech Tax organization is recruiting a Senior Tax Manager to lead tax planning and execution across a portfolio of strategic projects. This role will evaluate alternatives, identify planning opportunities, and integrate tax requirements into project design and implementation. Serving as the primary tax lead, the Senior Tax Manager will partner with tax teams and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver compliant, practical, and tax-efficient outcomes. The role requires sound judgment, strong business partnership, and the ability to operate independently in a complex, global environment.
This role is duration-based and is currently estimated to continue through mid-2029.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Leadership & Strategic Project Execution
- Lead a portfolio of strategic tax projects through implementation and stabilization.
- Develop and manage tax workplans, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables; drive issue resolution and clarify ownership and decision-making responsibilities.
- Coordinate tax diligence, modeling, approvals, and implementation across tax workstreams, internal stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and external advisors.
- Assess direct, indirect, international, legal entity, financial, and operational tax implications; develop practical planning strategies and translate them into requirements for structures, financial flows, intercompany arrangements, business processes, systems, data, and documentation.
- Monitor relevant legislative, regulatory, and business developments and assess their impact on strategic projects.
Tax Governance, Compliance & Controls
- Assess tax compliance, reporting, disputes, and control impacts arising from business, process, system, or organizational changes.
- Partner with Tax Compliance, Tax Reporting, Finance, Legal, and control owners to establish implementation governance and confirm that required tax positions, elections, registrations, agreements, controls, and process changes are in place before go-live.
- Document tax conclusions, approvals, and key implementation decisions in a clear, consistent manner to support ongoing compliance and audit readiness.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, tax planning, tax advisory, accounting, or finance.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and international tax, transfer pricing, tax accounting, financial statements, and statutory and tax books.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex cross-functional projects while managing competing priorities, dependencies, and risks.
- Strong analytical, communication, influencing, and business-partnering skills, with the ability to translate complex matters into practical recommendations.
- Proficiency with current technology, data analytics, financial modeling, and collaboration tools, with the ability to adapt to emerging technologies.
Preferred
- Advanced degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Business, or Law; CPA, JD, or another relevant professional credential.
- Experience leading tax workstreams for legal entity restructurings, supply chain transformations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, or similar strategic initiatives.
- Experience designing and embedding tax requirements into operating models, governance frameworks, processes, systems, or controls.
- Experience supporting complex, technology-enabled business transformations in a multinational environment.
