Job Description
The Global Learning & Development (GL&D) Learning Innovation Lead is responsible for scouting, evaluating, and piloting emerging learning technologies, including AI, automation, simulations, tools and apps, to determine where they create measurable value and can scale across the enterprise. This role turns experimentation into disciplined decisions, moving promising ideas from proof of concept to validated, business-ready solutions while retiring what does not deliver.
As GL&D evolves from producing training to improving business performance, this role is central to the department's commitment to automate and enhance with technology first, simplify how we work, and build for the future rather than the current state. The Learning Innovation Lead owns the process for evaluating and prioritizing new learning technologies and partners closely with GL&D teams to plan and implement successful pilots to evaluate technologies for scaling.
This role works across GL&D and with HR Product, Technology, the AI Center of Excellence, Third Party Risk Management, and vendor partners. Success is measured not by the volume of experiments, but by the number of innovations that reach production and deliver improved performance, faster cycle times, and a stronger learner experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Scouting, Evaluation & Piloting
- Identify, evaluate, and pilot emerging learning and learning support technologies (AI, automation, simulations, tools, apps) to validate business value, learner impact, and scalability.
- Monitor market trends, vendors, and emerging practices to maintain a forward-looking view of where learning technology is heading and what it means for GL&D.
- Design structured pilots with clear hypotheses, success criteria, timelines, and measurement plans; run experiments in safe, controlled environments.
- Assess each pilot for value, cost, risk, and enterprise scalability, then recommend whether to scale, iterate, or retire.
- Build business cases and proof-of-concept demonstrations that translate technical capability into business outcomes for stakeholders and leaders.
New Technology Approval Process
- Own and manage the end-to-end process for evaluating and prioritizing new learning technologies.
- Coordinate risk, security, data privacy, accessibility, and compliance reviews in partnership with GL&D vendor management, Third Party Risk Management, Information Security, Legal, and the AI governance functions.
- Partner with Procurement and GL&D vendor management on new vendor relationships, licensing, and contracting for approved technologies.
- Establish lightweight governance that speeds good decisions rather than slowing them, balancing agility with responsible adoption.
Partnership & Enablement
- Serve as a trusted advisor to GL&D leaders and business partners on emerging technology opportunities and practical application.
- Develop adoption and change plans, including enablement, documentation, and support needed for successful hand-off of new technologies to BAU processes.
- Provide regular updates on the innovation pipeline, pilot outcomes, and scaled results to inform planning and investment decisions.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Eight or more years of learning and development, HR, business, or managerial experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience evaluating, piloting, or implementing emerging technologies (AI, automation, simulations, or apps), ideally in a learning, HR, or enterprise environment.
- Ability to design experiments, define success criteria, and make evidence-based recommendations to scale, iterate, or stop.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical capability into business value and outcomes.
- Experience managing cross-functional processes and stakeholders, including risk, security, and compliance reviews.
- Excellent communication, influence, and relationship management skills, with comfort navigating ambiguity and change.
- Strong project management and organizational skills across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Background in Learning & Development, Learning Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Experience with Agile and Product Management
- Hands-on familiarity with AI platforms, Power Platform, learning platforms (LMS/LXP), simulations, or automation tools.
- Knowledge of third-party risk management, procurement, and technology governance processes.
- Experience with change management and driving adoption of new tools and ways of working.
- Data literacy to measure learning impact, efficiency, and effectiveness.
