About this role
Rural Maintenance Coordinator
The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Civil or Road Maintenance Supervisor ready to take the next step in your career?
We are seeking a Rural Maintenance Coordinator to lead the delivery of road maintenance services across the Flinders region. Moving beyond the day-to-day supervision of a single crew, you’ll coordinate multiple work fronts and provide leadership and direction to Supervisors, field teams, contractors and subcontractors.
Reporting to the Area Manager, this role will give you greater exposure to operational planning, budgets, performance, client relationships and workforce development. You’ll help translate broader business priorities into practical outcomes in the field while ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established Supervisor who is ready to broaden their leadership responsibilities and contribute to the overall performance of a regional maintenance operation.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for:
• Leading and supporting Supervisors and field teams across multiple work fronts
• Coordinating maintenance programs, resources, contractors and subcontractors
• Managing area budgets, expenditure and minor works quotations
• Monitoring operational KPIs, project costs, quality and delivery performance
• Coaching Supervisors and developing capability across the wider team
• Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and local stakeholders
• Identifying operational risks, resourcing needs and improvement opportunities
• Ensuring works meet safety, environmental, quality and contractual requirements
• Championing Downer’s Zero Harm culture across all operational activities
What We’re Looking For
You may already be working as a Supervisor within civil construction or road maintenance and be ready to take on broader responsibility across multiple teams and work programs.
You’ll bring:
• At least five years’ experience in civil construction, road maintenance or a similar operational environment
• Experience supervising crews and coordinating resources across active work sites
• The ability to step up and provide leadership to other Supervisors and field teams
• Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Exposure to budgets, costs, quotations and performance reporting
• Confidence working with clients, contractors and operational stakeholders
• Sound knowledge of safety, quality and environmental requirements
• A current Australian C Class Driver’s Licence
• A current White Card
A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential.
What’s On Offer
• A genuine step up from a site or crew-based Supervisor position
• Broader responsibility across multiple teams and maintenance programs
• Increased exposure to operational planning, commercial management and client relationships
• The opportunity to coach and develop Supervisors and field teams
• Ongoing training and professional development
• Career opportunities across Downer’s national network
• A supportive environment where safety comes first
