Job Title: Manufacturing Technician 3 (Day Shift) Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician 3 assembles, tests, troubleshoots, and prepares complex systems for shipment while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role works on a variety of mechanical, electrical, and control components, follows detailed work instructions, and partners closely with engineering and other teams to ensure systems are built accurately and delivered on time.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate safe work practices at all times, including electrical safety, proper lifting techniques, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow detailed work instructions to integrate subassemblies and components into complex systems in preparation for functional testing.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to ensure accurate assembly and configuration of systems.
- Use precision measurement tools such as torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMMs), height standards, levels, and specialized electronic data-gathering tools as specified in work instructions.
- Disassemble completed systems and pack them securely for shipment and delivery to customers, ensuring all components and documentation are included.
- Write clear daily pass downs to communicate build status, issues, and priorities to other team members and shifts.
- Store build data and documentation accurately as directed, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal processes.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment and assist Manufacturing Engineers in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, or control issues.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve safety, manufacturing processes, or 6S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) practices as they arise.
- Assemble and manufacture complex systems that may include vacuum-based equipment, electrical assemblies, mechanical components, and control boxes.
- Use standard hand tools and standard office tools to complete assembly, testing, and documentation tasks.
- Perform repetitive assembly and manufacturing tasks while sitting or standing, maintaining attention to detail and consistency.
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required to support production schedules and revenue goals.
- Carry out other duties as assigned to support the manufacturing and production operations.
Essential Skills
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in assembly and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools, including torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMMs), height standards, levels, and electronic data-gathering tools.
- Knowledge of hardware, software, and control systems related to complex equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in assembling and manufacturing complex systems, including vacuum-based equipment, electrical components, mechanical assemblies, and control boxes.
- Aptitude for identifying and resolving recurring problems in a manufacturing environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with assembly technicians, engineering, leadership, customers, sales, and marketing.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily tasks.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Ability to use standard hand tools and standard office tools effectively.
- Willingness and ability to work the second shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, as well as overtime, holidays, and weekends when required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associates degree in technical engineering is preferred.
- Background in technical field service is preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience using MS Word and Excel is preferred.
- Familiarity with 6S or similar continuous improvement and workplace organization practices is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
Work Environment

The position is scheduled for the second shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with the expectation of occasional overtime, holiday, and weekend work to meet production and revenue requirements. Technicians use a variety of tools and technologies, including standard hand tools, precision measurement instruments such as torque wrenches and digital multimeters, height standards, levels, and electronic data-gathering equipment, as well as standard office software like MS Word and Excel for documentation and communication. The work involves both sitting and standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks while maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organization. The environment emphasizes safe work practices, 6S principles, collaboration with engineering and cross-functional teams, and clear communication across shifts to ensure consistent build quality and on-time delivery.

This is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
