About this role

LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions.

If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application — we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.

Role Purpose

You will design the security that protects athletes, officials, and Games clients from the moment they land in Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As Manager, Arrivals and Departures Security, you define the end-to-end security model from Point of Entry through onward movement to Villages, hotels, and other controlled destinations. You build the airport security interface, screening model, controlled movement framework, and baggage chain of custody, working with airport operations, federal partners, and LA28 functional areas every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain the security component of the Arrivals and Departures Concept of Operations and its end-to-end security model.

- Develop the Security Interface Plan for LAX and other Points of Entry with airport operations, Public Safety partners, and federal agencies.

- Translate LA28 Security and applicable NSSE requirements into a practical person, baggage, and vehicle screening model for movements.

- Define the controlled movement framework and a single baggage security and chain-of-custody framework with partner functional areas.

- Draft planning documents, decision logs, and issue trackers, escalate risks, and support the transition to Games-time operations.

Required Competencies

- Minimum 5 years of experience in security planning, security operations, transportation or airport security, logistics security, or public safety coordination.

- Experience defining screening and access control requirements for people, baggage, and vehicles in a high-tempo operational environment.

- Experience coordinating security interfaces with airport operations, federal agencies, and public safety partners.

- Ability to design chain-of-custody, exception, and fallback procedures that close gaps without creating unnecessary friction.

- Strong writing skills for security concepts, decision logs, and briefing materials, with clear escalation of risks.

Valued Experience

- Experience working in or with airport environments, strongly preferred.

- Experience supporting major events or multi-venue operations.

- Experience with transportation hubs or large logistics networks.

- Knowledge of National Special Security Event planning.

- Experience with large-scale public-facing operations.

What We Offer

- Real ownership of the security model that welcomes the world's athletes to Los Angeles.

- Close partnership with airport, federal, and public safety agencies.

- A high-trust Security team that values sound judgment and pragmatic design.

- A direct role in keeping the Olympic and Paralympic Games safe and moving.

What This Role Means for the Games

Every athlete and official's Games begins at the airport. The security model you design keeps their arrival and departure safe, controlled, and smooth, so they reach their Village, hotel, or venue safely and ready to compete.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

- Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.

- The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.

- The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.

- Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
