About this role
Scope of Position
The primary focus of the Stewarding Driver is to deliver food, supplies and other products to areas of service using a company vehicle. The driver also transports waste disposals from holding areas to the main trash compactor and perform job duties required to maintain kitchen work areas, kitchen equipment in clean and orderly condition.
Position Requirements
- Minimum one year experience as a Steward or equivalent position.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/machinery.
- Valid Driver’s License
Responsibilities
- Loads items, equipment or waste onto truck with assistance from co-workers in a safe, orderly manner.
- Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas observing all safe lifting standards.
- Ensures hot and cold food items are kept in compliance with company standards and meet all sanitation and safety requirements.
- Operates large electric machines such as dishwashers, sanitizers and trash compactors.
- Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other food preparation machines and equipment routinely used in the kitchen.
- Ensure the kitchen/dish washing station is clean, well maintained and organized at all times.
- Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment as needed.
- Adhere to all sanitation guidelines.
- Dispose of waste as per the hotel standards and adhere to recycling guidelines.
- Wash, wipe, sort, stack dishes, and load/unload dishwasher.
- Clean, sanitize and close workstations.
- Consistently adheres to SDS (Safety Data Sheet) information related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
- Check all chemical levels and inventory.
- Always practice proper food handling procedures, cleaning and storage of containers, use of cleaning chemicals & PPEs.
- Responsible for general cleanliness of assigned vehicle/truck.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Education
- High school diploma or GED.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
- Able to handle high heat and moisture.
- Knowledge of basic food handling policies and procedures as well as the techniques and equipment for preparing and presenting food products for consumption, including storage/handling techniques, proper chemical handling, and sanitation standards.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be physically fit in order to lift, pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires reaching overhead/standing/walking/reaching and bending throughou t shift.
