Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill three part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Building Services Specialist for Recreational Sports at Oregon State University (OSU).

Building Services Specialists (BSSs) assist in meeting the operational needs and customer service requests for custodial services within the Department of Recreational Sports (RecSports).  BSSs work as a team to ensure RecSports facilities, grounds, and fields meet the highest standards for appearance, safety, and use.

Position Duties:

- Ensure waste containers and recycling bins are emptied as needed to prevent overflowing conditions
- Receive, unpack, inventory, and stock delivered supplies and materials as needed
- Assist with ensuring stock is adequate in all facilities, including Student Legacy Park, McAlexander Fieldhouse, Dixon Recreation Center, and other facilities as needed
- Ensure outdoor tennis courts, track, basketball courts, and pavilion areas are free from leaves and other debris
- Remove litter and other debris from grass, plant beds, and other outdoor areas as needed
- Perform regular touchpoint cleaning of elevator buttons, handrails, doorknobs, desks, counters, drinking fountains, lockers, and other equipment as needed to minimize spread of infectious disease
- Sweep hallways and common areas as needed
- Perform spot mopping as needed in response to spills and slip hazards

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the  Office of International Services  (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required:

- First Aid, CPR/AED (provided) and DRS Bloodborne Pathogens certifications is required before employment begins

Preferred:

- Previous custodial or facility maintenance experience
- Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
- Awareness and appreciation of individual uniqueness and diversity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

# Working Conditions/Schedule:
- This position offers some additional technical skills.
- Work shifts are generally early to mid-morning, between the hours of 5am-12pm Monday-Friday, including weekends.
