##### About this role
Objective and Purpose
To support the Corporate Tailings and Dams Team (CTDT) while providing the student with hands-on experience in Geotechnical monitoring, Dam Safety, and environmental compliance. The intern will support senior engineers with data analysis, technical reporting, report preparation, and risk assessments as well as setting up systems in support of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM).

Key Responsibilities and Functional Tasks:
The intern will be assigned tasks related to:
- Geotechnical Monitoring: Assist in review and optimization of site data and its corporate use
- Support with updates to standards and guidelines: Review corporate standards and guidelines and assist in drafting updates to align with GISTM standards
- Project scheduling: Help to map out, track and update timelines for actions plans and dam safety reviews
- Systems Implementation for GISTM: Assisting senior engineers in building out document control trees, tracking compliance gaps, and building action registers

Expected Applications and Software Use
The intern will utilize a variety of technical and administrative applications to complete daily tasks:
- Project Management and Admin: specialized software for timeline tracking such as Smartsheet or MS Project.
- Drafting and Design: AutoCAD and Civil 3D for reviewing site layouts, deposition plans, minor design update suggestions and simple calculations.
- Data Visualization and processing: Python or excel, MS Power BI to handle large datasets, perform statistical analysis and generate automated monitoring charts
Qualifications required
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
- Knowledge of Software and Technical Skills: Foundational proficiency in CAD drafting and 3D terrain modeling (AutoCAD and Civil 3D), MS Office, Power apps etc.
- Strong data manipulation skills: Advanced Excel functions, power apps or basic Python scripting.
- Engineering Principles: Familiarity with basic soil mechanics, hydrology, or geotechnical engineering principles.
##### Working Conditions and Location
- Location: This is a hybrid role. Work may be completed remotely, with some in-person meetings at Newmont’s Denver Locations. During the summer, the intern will be based primarily at the MTF site in Centennial.
- Hours: Position is part time during the academic semester to accommodate course load and full time during the summer.
Work Environment, Pay & Benefits:
This position is based in our Denver, CO corporate headquarters, with flexibility for hybrid work. The base salary range is 22.44 - 46.25 (reflecting market rates and your qualifications). The final base pay offer will be based on individual factors such as your experience, and skills – we do not ask for or use your prior pay in setting your compensation.
