About this role
Role Overview
At Electrum, engineering decisions directly affect how reliably riders can work every day. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to develop and improve mechanical systems and components across our electric two-wheeler ecosystem—turning rider needs, workshop feedback and field-performance insights into safe, durable and practical engineering solutions.
You will work across design, prototyping, testing and implementation, with a focus on vehicle reliability, ease of maintenance and reducing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies for electric two-wheelers and related equipment, balancing safety, durability, performance, manufacturability and cost.
- Translate feedback from riders, mechanics and field operations into engineering requirements and product improvements.
- Develop 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials and technical specifications.
- Evaluate materials, tolerances, structural strength and component fitment through engineering calculations and simulation where appropriate.
- Build and validate prototypes through functional, durability and field testing that reflects real operating conditions.
- Investigate mechanical failures, recurring repairs and reliability issues; implement corrective actions and verify their effectiveness.
- Improve serviceability so components are easier to inspect, repair and replace, helping mechanics return vehicles to riders faster.
- Collaborate with electrical, battery, product, quality, supply chain and operations teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Work with suppliers on fabrication methods, technical requirements, component quality and production readiness.
- Maintain design revisions, test reports and engineering change records to support consistent implementation across suppliers and operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development, testing or manufacturing engineering.
- Proficiency in a 3D CAD tool such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo or an equivalent platform.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, material selection and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to conduct structured testing and root-cause analysis, and translate findings into practical design improvements.
- Experience working with prototypes, suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work directly with mechanics and field teams to understand how products perform beyond the drawing board.
- Strong attention to detail, technical communication and ownership from problem identification through verified implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with motorcycles, electric vehicles or other electromechanical products.
- Familiarity with vehicle structures, enclosures, mounting systems or battery-related mechanical interfaces.
- Experience with machining, sheet-metal fabrication, welding, casting or injection molding.
- Familiarity with FEA, vibration analysis, fatigue assessment or durability testing.
- Exposure to design for manufacturing and assembly, serviceability improvements or engineering change control.
