Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician – Mechanical is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This hourly role performs preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment, helps minimize downtime, and supports continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, valves, piping systems, and other mechanical components
- Inspect equipment for wear, misalignment, vibration, leaks, and other mechanical issues
- Disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical parts and assemblies
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, manuals, and work orders
- Use precision measuring instruments and maintenance tools to complete repairs accurately
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts usage, and work order documentation
- Follow all plant safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental requirements
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and other maintenance team members to resolve equipment issues
- Identify opportunities for equipment reliability and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- Diploma Mechanical /Mechatronics
- Technical training, apprenticeship, or vocational certification in mechanical maintenance or related field preferred
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, plant, or facility maintenance
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and mechanical systems
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely
- Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance management systems
- Welding, machining, or fabrication experience is a plus
- Experience with alignment, bearings, seals, and rotating equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and lift materials or tools as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces as required
Work Schedule
- Hourly, non-exempt position
- May require overtime, weekends, holidays, or call-in support based on operational needs
