Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend microservices using Java 21 and Spring Boot 4
- Design and implement REST APIs documented with OpenAPI, and integrate with other internal and external services
- Build integrations and messaging flows with Apache Camel and Kafka
- Work with PostgreSQL through Spring Data JPA/JDBC, and manage schema changes with Flyway
- Model and automate business processes with the Flowable BPMN workflow engine
- Secure services with Spring Security, OAuth2 and Keycloak
- Write clean, well-tested code with JUnit 5, RestAssured and WireMock
- Work with containerized applications deployed to Kubernetes with Helm and GitLab CI/CD
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices
- Monitor and troubleshoot services in production with Prometheus and Grafan
Requirements
- Strong experience with Java (17+) and Spring Boot
- Solid knowledge of the Spring ecosystem (Spring Web MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Validation)
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
- Experience with automated testing (unit and integration), including JUnit 5 and Mockito
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native environments
- Familiarity with Gradle and Git-based workflows (merge requests, code reviews)
- Good understanding of object-oriented design, clean code, and microservice architecture
Nice to have
- Experience with BPMN workflow engines (Flowable, Camunda)
- Experience with Apache Camel or other enterprise integration frameworks
- Experience with Kafka or other event-driven architectures
- Knowledge of OAuth2 / OpenID Connect and Keycloak
- Experience with S3-compatible object storage (e.g. MinIO)
- Experience with Helm, GitLab CI/CD, and Azure (AKS)
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and code quality tools (SonarQube)
- Experience with MapStruct, ArchUnit, or Testcontainers
- Working knowledge of German
