We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Global Private Bank and Wealth Operations.
The Opportunity
The Head of Global Private Bank and Wealth Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for Wealth and Global Private Banking processing activities delivered through GSC Manila on behalf of HSBC entities worldwide.
The role drives the delivery of efficient, resilient and high-quality operations that support HSBC’s business priorities and enhance outcomes for Group customers. It ensures consistent performance against agreed service levels, strategic plans and stakeholder expectations, while fostering a culture of operational excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
A strong focus on leadership, governance, risk management and control is central to the role. The position upholds HSBC Global Standards, internal control requirements, compliance policies and applicable procedures, while ensuring the timely and sustainable resolution of internal and external audit findings, regulatory matters and other control issues.
Through effective leadership and collaboration across markets, entities and business functions, the role strengthens service quality, improves productivity and delivers seamless customer and stakeholder experience. It connects global business strategy with disciplined execution—ensuring operations that remain controlled, scalable and fit for the future.
In this role you will:
- Lead complex, time-critical operations supporting Wealth and Global Private Banking across 24 countries, ensuring consistent service delivery across diverse markets, products and regulatory environments.
- Safeguard the Bank’s interests by embedding robust procedures, assessing the operational impact of changes to credit policies and instruction manuals, and maintaining strong risk and control disciplines.
- Deliver high-quality customer experience by meeting agreed service standards and ensuring customer complaints and enquiries are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Drive operational excellence, productivity and cost efficiency, maintaining or exceeding agreed annual improvement targets without compromising service quality or control.
- Lead and develop a large, globally connected workforce, using effective coaching, performance management and engagement to build a high-performing and motivated team.
- Optimize resources across departments, strengthen collaboration and use meaningful performance indicators and management information to improve capacity, quality and outcomes.
- Lead the expansion and migration of new processes, working with internal and external project teams, Technology and business partners to increase capacity and maximize the value of automation.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards and ensure the timely and sustainable closure of audit findings and issues raised by external regulators.
- Uphold the Group Compliance Policy and continually reassess operational risks in response to changing economic conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating models, management structures and technology.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Wealth and Personal Banking, Global Private Banking, Technology, Procurement and global, regional and country Operations teams.
- Provide decisive leadership during incidents and periods of significant pressure, including system failures, ensuring service levels are protected, business disruption is minimized and HSBC’s reputation is safeguarded.
- Analyze trends, performance and operational data to identify opportunities to reduce losses, improve revenue outcomes, increase productivity and maintain a resilient, cost-effective support model.
- Exercise sound judgement and initiative in a role requiring limited supervision, balancing service, risk, cost and growth priorities in a highly regulated and rapidly changing environment.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- A postgraduate qualification, ideally supported by a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
- More than 10 years’ experience in financial services, including substantial experience in investments and complex Wealth or Private Banking operations.
- Strong knowledge of securities, investment products and the operational requirements associated with complex instruments and high-net-worth client servicing.
- Proven leadership experience in a large-scale operational environment, with a track record of delivering strategic objectives, operational improvements and measurable productivity gains.
- Experience leading large cale operations, developing people through effective coaching, performance management, succession planning and engagement.
- Strong understanding of risk, compliance, internal controls, audit management and regulatory expectations within a highly regulated financial services environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale change, process migrations, transformation initiatives and automation programmes while protecting service quality and operational resilience.
- A strong understanding of automation tools and emerging technologies, with the ability to identify practical opportunities to simplify processes, increase capacity and reduce operating costs.
- Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills, including the ability to use management information, statistical analysis and trend analysis to inform decisions and make reliable projections.
- Strong resource, capacity and cost-management capability, including experience managing budgets, overheads and financial outcomes.
- Exceptional stakeholder-management and influencing skills, with the confidence to communicate effectively with senior leaders, business partners, Technology, Procurement and Operations teams across regions.
- Sound operational judgement, decisive problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to high priority demands, market deadlines and critical incidents.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on delivery.
- A creative, commercially minded and improvement-focused approach, with the resilience to work under pressure and the judgement to balance customer experience, risk management and cost efficiency.
