ABOUT BAYER
At Bayer we are visionaries, driven to solve the world’s challenges and a company with more than 150 years history. Bayer’s La Dargoire Research Center in Lyon, France is a hub of innovation and discovery. Our dedicated teams of biologists, chemists, and biochemists are at the forefront of crop protection research, applying cutting-edge technologies to combat plant diseases and safeguard food supply.
CONTEXT
Collections of fungal strains are an essential resource for crop protection research and development. Their cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen ensures their long-term availability, traceability, and quality. Within the Plant Pathology department, teams use and maintain these collections for biological assays and the evaluation of innovative solutions. Establishing a robust storage and tracking system is therefore critical to safeguarding laboratory activities.

- Assess the existing fungal strain collection, including viability, purity, and sporulation capacity
- Help establish a physical organization system using barcoded tubes and boxes suitable for cryopreservation
- Contribute to configuring and using dedicated software for sample registration, location, and tracking
- Define an inventory management strategy, including rules for registration, updates, movement tracking, and information archiving
- Handle strains at very low temperatures, enter data, and propose procedures to improve the traceability, reliability, and efficiency of the collections
