Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s strategic sourcing function and developing sourcing strategies aimed at optimizing cost, quality, service, and risk management across assigned categories.
The successful candidate will lead a team of procurement professionals and collaborate with business leaders to develop category strategies, manage competitive sourcing processes, negotiate contracts, and optimize supplier performance.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and play a key role in driving cost savings, ensuring supply continuity, and creating long-term value for the organization.
What you're responsible for:
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
- Develop and implement sourcing and category strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Analyze spend, market conditions, supplier capabilities, and business requirements to identify sourcing opportunities.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across direct and indirect spend categories.
- Develop multi-year category roadmaps focused on cost optimization, risk mitigation, sustainability, and supplier performance.
Supplier Selection & Competitive Sourcing
- Lead Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), and supplier evaluation processes.
- Identify, qualify, and select suppliers that best meet the organization's needs.
- Conduct commercial analyses and total cost of ownership (TCO) assessments.
- Develop data-driven sourcing recommendations supported by business cases.
Contract Negotiation & Management
- Lead complex commercial negotiations with suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, service levels, commercial terms, and contractual conditions.
- Collaborate with Legal and business stakeholders to develop and manage contracts.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and the realization of expected value from supplier agreements.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with business leaders to understand operational requirements and sourcing priorities.
- Act as a strategic business partner to Finance, Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, and other corporate functions.
- Influence decision-making through market intelligence and procurement expertise.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Oversee relationships with strategic suppliers.
- Conduct business reviews and supplier performance evaluations.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Manage supplier-related risks and business continuity challenges.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop Procurement Specialists.
- Establish team objectives, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support talent development and succession planning.
Procurement Strategy & Performance
- Deliver initiatives that generate cost savings, cost avoidance, and value creation.
- Monitor the portfolio of sourcing initiatives and project execution.
- Develop and present key performance indicators (KPIs) related to savings, supplier performance, contract coverage, and sourcing cycle times.
- Support procurement transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
To join our team:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7 to 10+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership or team management experience.
- Strong experience in contract negotiations and supplier management.
- Proven track record of leading strategic sourcing projects.
- Strong analytical, financial, communication, and influencing skills.
- Experience managing complex RFP, RFQ, and RFI processes.
- Experience negotiating supplier agreements and commercial terms.
- Experience in supplier evaluation and performance management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
