Job Overview & Responsibilities

This posting is for a position within the ULA Operations engineering team leading a structures focused analysis and design team. As a leader of one of our teams, you will be a responsible for:

- Leading the team to execute recurring operations engineering support of the strategic business objectives of the enterprise

- Managing individuals on the team including assignments, priorities, performing performance reviews, merit planning, and promotions

- Development of individuals on the team in support of their career development plans and in support of building depth and diverse skillsets cross the team

- Drive training and resources needed to ensure success for the team

- Drive inputs/deliverables from the upstream/downstream customers

- Support the team with technical resolutions

- Support the team with supplier requirements, analysis efforts, and engineering desing support activities in the factory

- Coordinate across strength and design enterprise leaders for resource sharing and help needs

- Recognizing and rewarding teammates

- Generating estimates in support of continuous improvement and strategic improvement projects

- Developing Estimates at Cost (EAC) along wiht other Cost Account Manager (CAM) duties for strength and design focals

- Providing regular status to ULA senior leadership

- Actively managing risk through proactive mitigation

Required Education

Bachelor

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.

- At least 8 years of applicable experience

- Knowledge of operations engineering support functions including product certification, non-conformance and material review board activities, and related processes

- Prior experience leading an engineering team, project management, or team lead experience

- Excellent teamwork, programmatic, and communication skills

- Ability to tackle and fix complicated cross-organization challenges and conflicts

- Experience preparing and presenting at engineering reviews (technical decision making reviews, anomaly review boards, etc)

- Experience briefing senior leaders and customers

- Experience developing technical and cost proposals

- Demonstrated ability to share experience, mentor junior engineers, and lead by example

- Demonstrated ability to develop next generation of engineering technical experts in the Decatur factory

- Demonstrated ability to deal with personnel issus to ensure performance and team cohesiveness

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with staffing/hiring/onboarding employees

- Experience working with Space Force or NASA customers

- Detailed knowledge of pressurized metallic structure hardware requirements (design or strength)

- Knowledge of engineering tools such as FEMAP, Abaqus, NASGRO, NASTRAN, Teamcenter, and NX

- Knowledge of primary structure and component level qualification requirements and methods
