This role operates within a highly collaborative and international commercial environment, involving regular interaction with counterparties both locally and globally, as well as with TotalEnergies affiliates worldwide. The position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading and shipping environment, where success depends on effectively working across diverse cultures and business practices. The successful candidate will regularly partner with multicultural teams in Houston and Geneva, while also engaging with colleagues in Singapore and Dubai, to exchange ideas, share expertise, and contribute to achieving collective business objectives and organizational success.
This role is responsible for expanding ATMI’s commercial footprint by identifying, developing, and executing new trading opportunities across physical commodities markets, with the potential to incorporate associated derivative structures where appropriate. The successful candidate will cultivate and strengthen relationships with a broad range of market participants, including refiners, retailers, producers, marketers, and financial institutions, to drive profitable business growth and originate new commercial opportunities.
A key focus of the position will be the evaluation and pursuit of strategic midstream asset and infrastructure transactions that enhance market access, create competitive advantages, and unlock incremental trading opportunities. The role will also work closely with TotalEnergies business units and affiliates, including Exploration & Production (E&P), Marketing & Services (M&S), and Refining & Chemicals (RC), to identify and capture third-party volumes generated through existing partnerships and shared logistics networks.
Leveraging ATMI's established commercial relationships and market presence, the successful candidate will develop long-term, structured transactions that create sustainable value for the organization. In addition, this individual will play an important role in enhancing ATMI's visibility and reputation within the industry by strengthening external partnerships, promoting the company's capabilities, and contributing to broader market awareness of ATMI and its activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, originate, and develop new business opportunities across the Americas, including Latin America, the Caribbean, U.S. export markets, and domestic U.S. trading activities, with a focus on creating sustainable commercial value and expanding ATMI’s market presence.
- Structure and execute complex cross-desk and cross-product transactions, including processing agreements, product swap arrangements, multi-product portfolios, and long-term supply and offtake agreements designed to optimize value across the trading platform.
- Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with counterparties seeking to expand their trading activities or gain greater exposure to international markets, including industrial and commercial players with limited existing trading capabilities.
- Originate and develop pre-financed offtake opportunities for crude oil and refined products in close collaboration with the Structured Origination & Finance team, delivering tailored commercial and financing solutions.
- Lead the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of investments, acquisitions, and long-term lease agreements for midstream logistics assets, ensuring infrastructure capabilities align with and support the growth objectives of ATMI and TOTSA across the Americas.
- Prepare and present comprehensive business cases and project dossiers for internal governance and approval processes, including submissions to key TotalEnergies decision-making bodies such as CORISK and COMEX.
- Support TotalEnergies’ strategic investment and divestment activities by structuring and negotiating commercial components, including offtake and supply agreements, financing arrangements, and other transaction-related commitments that enhance project value and market access.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience within Trading, Midstream, Downstream, or related commercial environments, with a proven track record of delivering value in dynamic and evolving markets.
- Deep understanding of energy market fundamentals, including market economics, value drivers, pricing mechanisms, and commercial levers across the energy value chain.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, high-value commercial initiatives from opportunity identification and economic assessment through negotiation, deal structuring, execution, and implementation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of trading operations, including commercial contracts, logistics, shipping, and risk management, with the ability to navigate the interdependencies of each function.
- Strong commercial judgment and risk management capabilities, with the ability to proactively identify, assess, articulate, and mitigate risks within sophisticated transaction structures.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus, align stakeholders, mobilize cross-functional teams, and drive projects to successful completion.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, coupled with the agility and adaptability required to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and multi-stakeholder environment.
- Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset.
