This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX, Indianapolis, IN, Remote and Columbus, OH.

Job Introduction:

The Enterprise Data & Data Science organization provides centralized products, platforms, and technology support for Data Science teams across Liberty Mutual. Our team focuses on enabling the development, deployment, and adoption of AI/ML solutions through shared platforms, reusable capabilities, and enterprise-scale data science practices.

We’re looking to hire a Product Owner I candidate to help shape and deliver capabilities that make it easier for Data Scientists across Liberty Mutual to build, deploy, and operate AI and machine learning solutions.

In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of product, data science, and technology , partnering closely with Data Scientists, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders to understand user needs, inform product strategy and priorities, and translate opportunities into platform capabilities and improvements.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems through a product lens, using data and customer insights to inform decisions, and building experience with modern data science and AI/ML technologies.

About the job:

- Represent the voice of Data Scientists and other platform users, developing a strong understanding of their workflows, needs, and pain points.
- Help shape product strategy and roadmaps by bringing together customer insights, product analytics, technology considerations, and organizational priorities.
- Develop and use product metrics and analytics to understand platform usage, adoption, customer experience, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partners with Data Scientists, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders to translate customer needs and product priorities into actionable capabilities and improvements.
- Gather customer feedback and use data, product metrics, and user insights to inform prioritization and product decisions.
- Support the evaluation and adoption of technologies and capabilities that improve the data science development and model lifecycle experience.
- Help identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve user experience, and increase adoption of reusable platform capabilities and best practices.
- Develop and maintain prioritized product backlogs, including clear features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, in partnership with aligned delivery teams.
- Participate in quarterly planning, demos, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to support effective execution and delivery.
- Communicate priorities, progress, decisions, and outcomes to stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience,
- Minimum 5+ years of Product Owner experience.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and product management practices.
- Experience working with technology teams, with level determined based on relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use data and customer insights to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
- Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Curiosity and an experimental mindset, with a demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and approaches.
- Interest in data science, machine learning, AI, data platforms, or developer/platform experiences.
- Experience working with data, analytics, data science, software engineering, or technology platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with modern data and AI technologies such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, or similar platforms is a plus.

AI Fluency:

Actively uses AI tools to improve the speed, quality, and scale of work; can point to concrete workflows where AI adds value; critically evaluates and validates AI-generated output; and applies AI responsibly, protecting confidential and customer data.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
