About this role
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and experimentally manipulate mammalian cancer cell lines, including generation of engineered cell lines using transfection and viral transduction.
- Perform flow cytometry/FACS, tissue dissociation, cell isolation, and preparation of high-quality single-cell suspensions for downstream analyses including single-cell RNA sequencing.
- Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques including DNA/RNA/protein isolation, PCR/qPCR, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and related assays.
- Conduct functional cell-based experiments including migration, invasion, transwell, fluorescent reporter, and other assays relevant to cancer-cell behavior.
- Prepare and process cells and tissues from mouse experiments and assist with animal handling, injections, tumor monitoring, tissue collection, and related procedures.
- Support multiplexed fluorescence imaging and other quantitative microscopy-based studies.
- Independently troubleshoot experiments, modify or optimize technical procedures and experimental protocols, and analyze and interpret resulting data.
- Maintain mouse colonies, including genotyping, phenotyping, and breeding.
- Maintain accurate experimental records, organize samples and datasets, manage laboratory reagents and supplies, monitoring and changing liquid nitrogen tanks for dewars, and help train or guide other laboratory members.
- Contribute to preparation of figures, methods, presentations, manuscripts, and other scientific materials as appropriate.
- Routinely modify technical procedures;
- Routinely train or guide other lab members;
- May routinely operate, maintain and troubleshoot complex, high tech equipment;
- Routinely modify/formulate experimental protocols;
- Routinely analyze and interpret data;
- May make frequent written contributions to papers and grant proposals;*
- An in-depth understanding of complex scientific literature and an extensive understanding of research goals and rationale is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent skills and experience, with at least 4.5 years of relevant laboratory research experience.
Strong experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular/cellular biology techniques is required. Experience with flow cytometry or FACS, transfection or viral transduction, tissue dissociation, and fluorescence-based assays is highly desirable. Experience in cancer biology, tumor microenvironment or immune-cell biology, mouse models, preparation of samples for single-cell sequencing, or quantitative microscopy would be particularly valuable.
The candidate should have demonstrated ability to work independently, troubleshoot experimental problems, maintain rigorous and reproducible records, manage multiple concurrent experiments, and communicate effectively as part of a collaborative research team.

ABOUT US
The Department of Pathology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Technician D to join a multidisciplinary research team studying breast cancer progression and metastasis. Our laboratory combines cancer cell biology, mouse models, advanced imaging, microfluidics, and single-cell approaches to understand how tumor cells disseminate, survive, and establish metastatic disease.
The successful candidate will contribute to multiple NIH- and foundation-funded projects focused on breast cancer metastasis, cancer stem-cell biology, tumor-macrophage interactions, mechanotransduction, and early-stage breast cancer progression. The position is well suited to an experienced experimentalist who can work independently, troubleshoot experiments, contribute to protocol development, and collaborate closely with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and other laboratory members.
