The Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group of Baker McKenzie seeks a Senior Paralegal to join any of the following offices: Dallas or Chicago, IL.

The role
The Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal will provide high-level paralegal support to lawyers and clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, with a primary focus on domestic and international trademark prosecution, portfolio management, maintenance, enforcement and related proceedings.
The role requires an experienced IP professional who can independently manage sophisticated trademark portfolios, coordinate matters across jurisdictions, monitor critical deadlines, and work effectively with lawyers, clients, foreign associates and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Main responsibilities
- Prepare, coordinate and file domestic and international trademark applications, renewals, declarations, office action responses and other prosecution and maintenance documents.
- Manage intellectual property portfolios and related docketing activities, proactively monitoring deadlines and ensuring that required filings and actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Review and analyze trademark applications, office actions, refusals and other correspondence from trademark offices, assisting lawyers in preparing appropriate responses.
- Coordinate trademark renewal and maintenance processes across domestic and international portfolios, working closely with lawyers, clients, foreign associates and other stakeholders to determine appropriate actions.
- Conduct preliminary trademark screening and clearance searches and assist with the review and analysis of comprehensive trademark search reports.
- Monitor and review trademark watch notices, publications and potential conflicts, conduct additional research where appropriate, and coordinate follow-up actions with lawyers and foreign or local counsel.
- Assist with trademark oppositions, cancellations and other contentious trademark proceedings, including conducting online investigations, gathering evidence and organizing supporting documentation.
- Prepare and coordinate documents required for international trademark matters in accordance with country-specific requirements, including notarization, legalization and other formalities.
- Prepare and record trademark and copyright assignments and other documents related to changes in ownership, title and portfolio information.
- Draft correspondence, reports, memoranda and other documentation relating to trademark and broader intellectual property matters.
- Support lawyers and clients with intellectual property portfolio management projects, including portfolio reviews, audits, acquisitions, transfers and other strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate effectively with foreign associates, outside counsel and internal teams to support intellectual property matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain accurate and complete matter, docket and portfolio information within applicable intellectual property management systems.
- Serve as a senior paralegal resource on intellectual property matters, applying sound judgment, strong organizational skills and established processes to independently manage complex assignments and competing deadlines.
- Support the broader IP practice with additional projects and responsibilities as required.

Pay Transparency
- Subject to eligibility requirements, the Firm offers a comprehensive benefits package, including bonus opportunities, medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement savings plans, time off and leave programs, and wellness benefits. Benefits are subject to applicable plan terms and Firm policies.
- The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $93,000 to $135,000 (annually) if located in an office in the state of Illinois. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
