Job Summary

The Project Accountant will report directly to the Stellar Energy PGT Finance leader in the Jacksonville office. This role serves as the key financial partner to the operations, engineering, and project management teams. The Project Accountant is responsible for executing project-based financial controls, recasting and managing complex project budgets, executing the monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) cycle, and ensuring accurate percentage-of-completion (POC) conversion and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

·         Execute Monthly & Quarterly Closings: Manage the end-to-end close and reporting cycle with a team of peer project accountants. Coordinate with Project Managers to confirm cost incurred is properly reflected each period to ensure GAAP-compliant cost and revenue recognition.

·         Lead Budget Recasting & Project Costing: Analyze, recast, and maintain multi-million-dollar project budgets and dynamic forecasts in JD Edwards.  Monitor purchase orders (POs) across sites and integrate new client POs into master tracking.

·         Execute detailed variance analysis with cross functional partnership: Prepare and deliver insights on project forecast change drivers in materials, labor, and overhead assumptions by partnering cross functionally across other areas of Finance, PGT, Operations, and project management.  Utilize JD Edwards, AI & Analytics tools to perform analysis.

·         Support Ad-Hoc Corporate Audits & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust internal controls, ensuring alignment with Trane Technologies’ financial policies (FICAPs, SICs) and supporting internal/external audit requirements with a particular focus on Percentage of Completion related controls.

Qualifications

·         Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, or MBA) or progress toward one is highly desired.

·         Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or cost accounting within a manufacturing or engineering environment.  JDE Edwards system experience is highly desired.

·         Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must (experience managing complex formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables). Exposure to corporate ERP systems (such as JDE or Oracle), One Stream, Tableau, and AI tools is preferred.

·         Analytical Rigor: A proven ability to perform deep-dive variance analysis, identify Trial Balance mapping mismatches, and resolve system reconciliation challenges.

·         Cross-Functional Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence project managers, estimators, and plant operations teams in a highly matrixed environment.

·         Fiduciary Ownership: Uncompromising integrity with a deep understanding of percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting rules, US GAAP, and project-level internal controls.

·         Adaptability & Drive: The resilience to work through system restatements, data migrations, and tight month-end close schedules in a fast-paced, high-growth business unit.
