About this role
Help shape how J.P. Morgan Payments shows up in market - and why customers should care. In this role, you’ll turn business and product priorities into a clear narrative and creative strategy that builds authority over time.
As a Vice President, Brand Strategy in J.P. Morgan Payments, you will define the narrative and creative strategy behind our biggest market investments. You’ll bring the customer point of view into a complex, global organization and use audience insight to sharpen what we say and make. You’ll partner closely with stakeholders, agencies, and our creative studio to ensure the work is coherent across touchpoints and compounds over time.
Job Responsibilities
- Translate business, product, and go-to-market priorities into a clear market narrative and creative strategy.
- Define an audience-centered point of view that builds brand authority and cultural capital over time.
- Steward how the brand shows up across flagship programs and key touchpoints.
- Own audience testing end-to-end, including participants, questions, and stimulus.
- Balance learning (what resonates) with validation (what we must prove to build alignment and confidence).
- Partner with agencies to distill findings into clear, actionable recommendations that elevate the work.
- Partner with the creative studio to define what the work must accomplish and what “good” looks like.
- Use audience insight to guide decisions—sharpening metaphors, focusing copy, and raising creative craft.
- Define clear assignments and translate competing stakeholder input into usable direction for agency partners.
- Lead agency partners to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
- Leverage marketing science to raise the standard for how a matrixed organization shows up in market.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
- Apply marketing science to build strategies and drive focus (including category entry points, the 95:5 rule, and System 1/System 2 thinking).
- Build an audience-centered point of view that earns authority through the work, not just claims.
- Distill ambiguity and competing inputs into a clear path forward.
- Influence stakeholders without formal authority, knowing when to hold the line and when to compromise.
- Bring deep audience obsession, pressure-testing decisions against what matters to customers.
- Translate complexity into a coherent narrative that connects across touchpoints and compounds over time.
- Operate fluidly across strategy and execution—moving from insight to assignment to strong delivery.
- Rally teams around a shared vision and change minds, including in resistant rooms.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills:
- Bring experience building brand and narrative strategy inside a highly matrixed, global organization.
- Demonstrate strong partnership with creative teams, with comfort shaping work through craft (not personal taste).
- Show confidence leading external agencies through complex feedback and multiple stakeholders.
- Bring experience building brand authority through flagship programs and integrated campaigns.
