About this role

Overview:

Serves as the strategic marketing lead for one or more lines of business, partnering closely with business leaders to understand growth objectives, market opportunities, customer needs, and business challenges. Responsible for developing data-driven marketing strategies that align business priorities with marketing capabilities and channels, translating strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.

Acts as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and collaborates with cross-functional marketing teams to drive execution, enable sales teams, communicate progress, and measure business impact. Operates with a high degree of independence and strategic influence across Marketing and supported business lines.

Location:

This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring onsite presence four days per week at one of M&T Bank’s regional offices if within commutable distance. The team will consider candidates with the right experience to work remotely within the M&T footprint, if not near one of the regional hubs:

Primary Responsibilities:

- Build and maintain deep understanding of assigned line(s) of business, including strategic objectives, growth priorities, competitive landscape, target audiences, customer needs, and business challenges.
- Partner with business line leaders and key stakeholders to identify opportunities where marketing can accelerate business growth, improve customer engagement, or address business challenges.
- Develop and own data-driven marketing strategies aligned to business objectives, leveraging customer insights, market intelligence, performance data, and industry trends.
- Translate business goals into integrated marketing plans that leverage available marketing channels, capabilities, and resources to achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional marketing teams, including campaign execution, digital marketing, content, creative, analytics, events, and communications, to successfully execute strategic initiatives.
- Establish clear success metrics and performance measurement frameworks; analyze results, communicate outcomes to stakeholders, and recommend optimization opportunities.
- Serve as the primary marketing advisor and point of contact for assigned business line leaders, ensuring alignment between marketing priorities and business objectives.
- Support sales enablement efforts by developing messaging, positioning, training, and communications that help sales teams effectively engage prospects and customers.
- Communicate marketing strategies, plans, results, and recommendations to senior business and marketing leaders, influencing decisions through data and insights.
- Identify emerging customer, market, and industry trends and recommend strategic marketing opportunities that support business growth.
- Act as a subject matter expert in strategic marketing planning and execution, influencing stakeholders and fostering alignment across teams.
- Coach and guide team members, project teams, and external partners as needed to ensure successful strategy execution.
- Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree

5 years of marketing experience (Or in Lieu of a degree, a combination of 9 years of higher education and relevant experience)

Experience in dealing with escalated issues and resolving unique and significantly complex problems

Has demonstrated strong working relationships with internal and external partners

Ability to research, evaluate and recommend changes to initiative or project

Experience in mentoring and/or onboarding more junior talent

Technical Expert and/or independent judgment

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $98,500.00 - $164,100.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
