# Job Description Summary:
UofL Health is excited to partner with Jefferson Community and Technical College to offer a fully funded alternative path to nursing. This program offers two ways to achieve a nursing career through the PCA-LPN or LPN-RN pathway. Participants will maintain concurrent employment with UofL Health working as a PCA or LPN on weekend shifts while attending JCTC’s nursing program during the week. Program participants will receive tuition reimbursement which will be deferred. Payment will be processed each semester, on behalf of the participant, upon successful completion of approved coursework. Participants of this program are eligible for tuition reimbursement immediately upon hire. Participants will be hired to work on one of UofL Health’s departments in a weekend position (WOW) while attending school. WOW hourly incentive pay and HR benefits are included.

Career Mobility Program (CMP) Admission Criteria
- Completion of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Eligibility to enroll, or be enrolled, into Jefferson Community and Technical College’s nursing programs (LPN or LPN-RN bridge)
- Must not have a post-graduation commitment at another organization
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Ongoing good withstanding as a UofL Health employee
CMP Program Details
- Two program tracks PCA working toward LPN
- LPN working toward RN
- Participants will be employed to work on a mixed acuity unit per the weekend only policy. *Including additional hourly incentive
- Shifts include Friday/Saturday 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. or Saturday/Sunday 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Eligible for full benefits (medical, vision, dental, 401k etc.)
- 100% of tuition and associated program fees will be deferred and payment processed each semester on behalf of the participant, upon successful completion of approved coursework.
- Participants will be cohorted to complete eligible clinicals at UofL Health facilities
Career Mobility Timeline
- Pre-requisite courses – up to two semesters pending credit review
- PCA-LPN Program- 12 months Fall admission
- LPN-RN Program- 12 months Spring and Fall admission
- Career Mobility Participants may concurrently apply for UofL’s online RN-BSN program and enroll in UofL RN to BSN Courses after successful completion of the first semester.

Skills and Procedures
• Performs clinical procedures in a competent manner, following appropriate policies and procedures, as delegated by a Licensed Practical or Registered Nurse. Performs the duties of a Patient Care Assistant and maintains PCA competencies.
1. Obtains blood and blood products from the blood bank. May assist in verifying blood prior to administration.
2. Assists with all aspects of Registered Nursing patient care under direct supervision.
3. Demonstrates knowledge related to age-appropriate behavior to assess the growth and development of the patient.
4. Provides for routine and procedural hygiene needs.
5. Assists in meeting patient's activity needs.
6. Obtains laboratory specimens as directed.
7. Assists/performs post-mortem care.
8. Provides emotional support to patients and families.
Communication
1. Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team.
2. Maintains complete patient confidentiality.
3. Reports changes in patient's condition or other pertinent data to the RN immediately.
Quality and Safety
1. Attends shift huddles and in services, as appropriate.
2. Demonstrates safe and proper use of equipment.
3. Uses personal protective equipment and complies with all universal precautions and bloodborne pathogens regulations.
4. Identifies and immediately reports any actual or potential hazard observed in the hospital environment.
5. Demonstrates knowledge of all safety and emergency codes
