It's bad manners to talk about money. Unless you're in Finance & Accounting or Controlling & Analysis—the two large teams comprising Finance at BCG. Not only do these professionals talk about money all the time, they also really have to know what they're talking about, since they're responsible for accounting, taxes, payroll, travel management, and time and billing at BCG. In addition to purely financial workflows, they also ensure that our consultants have the best possible basis for making decisions in our various respective markets.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a motivated Working Student to join our Central Europe (CE) Controlling team in Düsseldorf. You will support the team in taking our reporting and analytics to the next level – using modern data tools and generative AI that give our consultants and department heads the best possible basis for decisions.

As a Working Student, you will support the team in the following areas:

- Building and improving reports and analyses using Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics tools such as Tableau and Power BI
- Preparing, cleaning, and analyzing data from various sources (e.g., with Excel, SQL, or Python) for different recipient groups (consultants or department heads)
- Exploring and piloting GenAI use cases (e.g., with Claude) to automate recurring reporting and controlling workflows
- Getting involved in the planning phases and in various controlling projects
- Taking on administrative tasks for the controlling team
- Working in a varied and challenging role in a modern, innovative working environment that actively embraces new technologies

What You'll Bring

- You are enrolled full-time at a (technical) university, ideally in a business or STEM degree program.
- Ideally, you already have some experience in the field of finance, but this is not mandatory.
- You have initial experience with the MS Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and a strong interest in data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and generative AI applications; first exposure to SQL or Python is a plus but not required.
- You work in a self-directed, structured, and service-oriented manner, while showing flexibility, dedication, and a consistently friendly and professional demeanor. You have a strong affinity for numbers, finance, data, and new technologies, and you are curious about how AI can improve the way we work.
- Excellent German and good written and spoken English language skills complete your profile.

Who You'll Work With

As a Working Student, you will be part of the Central Europe Finance Team, which totals more than 50 members. Locally, you will work closely with four experienced controllers and also collaborate with four more controllers across the CE region. At the beginning, you will receive a structured onboarding process, during which an experienced colleague will guide you and introduce you to the most important tools and workflows. Our team places great importance on open communication and mutual support, so you will benefit from intensive knowledge sharing and continue to develop both professionally and personally.
