About this role

The Design Engineer I uses engineering techniques to design, maintain, or improve new or existing products and/or components for engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility.

This position will serve Rheem North America , located in Montgomery, AL (Hybrid). This role follows our hybrid work arrangement, with team members working in the office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Ability to work with mathematic concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Strong reasoning and analytical skills (ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations)
- Experience in appliance design preferred.
- Experience in engineering/manufacturing change processes.
- Experience in working with governing certification standards and agencies preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing processes engineering and engineering computer systems including SolidWorks modeling software.
- Occasional travel required.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.

HOW TO STAND OUT

- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in design and manufacture of products
- Knowledge of gas combustion principles.
- Knowledge of heat pump design and heat exchanger optimization.
- Knowledge of analysis & system development tools (e.g. ANSYS/Fluent, ANSYS/Mechanical, MATLAB, LabView, Pro/e, EnergyPlus, GT-SUITE, etc
