Job summary

As a Vice President, Product Controller – Property & Casualty Insurance on the Business Banking Product Controller team , you will help launch and support a new insurance agency business by building sound accounting and reporting practices. You will analyze and reconcile insurance-related financial and technical data to produce timely, accurate reporting. You will partner across finance, accounting policy, risk, and compliance to interpret guidance and strengthen controls. You will turn complex information into clear insights that support decision-making and external reporting. You will help establish repeatable processes and systems that scale with the business.

Job responsibilities

- Coordinate finance infrastructure activities to support a new insurance agency business, including accounting readiness, reporting, and controls.
- Partner with accounting policy and regulatory policy teams to interpret applicable accounting and regulatory guidance and document recommendations.
- Ensure reporting aligns with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory guidance.
- Build strong working relationships across finance, risk, compliance, legal, and firmwide reporting teams to drive alignment and timely delivery.
- Review reported insurance information and supporting materials to confirm completeness and consistency.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables.
- Perform variance and trend analyses and explain key drivers in clear, executive-ready narratives.
- Validate source data end-to-end and confirm reconciliations between upstream sources and final reporting outputs.
- Source and compile financial data for month-end close materials, insurance-related filings, and senior management presentations.
- Maintain financial reporting processes and tools, and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and efficiency.
- Recommend improvements to business procedures and operating routines based on analysis and control considerations.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in accounting, product control, financial reporting, controllership, or insurance finance.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ability to apply them to new products or new business launches.
- Ability to translate insurance business requirements into a clear, actionable accounting framework with strong execution discipline.
- Understanding of property and casualty insurance (for example: auto, homeowners, renters, umbrella).
- Advanced Excel skills for analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Proficiency with SAP for financial workflows and reporting support.
- Working knowledge of data tools (for example: Databricks, SQL) for data sourcing, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to distill complex information into concise insights for management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills , including partnering with finance, controls, risk, compliance, and legal.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

- Experience designing end-to-end reporting processes, including documentation and controls.
- Experience building reconciliations and control frameworks for key reporting processes.
- Experience presenting analyses and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Experience with insurance reporting and/or external reporting deliverables (for example: regulatory filings or earnings materials).
- Experience supporting product launches or new business initiatives in financial services or insurance.
