The Transmission Practice is seeking an Electrical Distribution Designer in Green Bay, WI. This Wisconsin-based role is remote-friendly, and is ideal for an individual with the ability or willingness to work within or relocate near or within the Wisconsin Public Service territory.
This position will prepare safe, practical, and constructible designs for new installations, replacements, relocations, system improvements, and customer service connections. The Electrical Distribution Designer will work closely with project managers, engineers, field personnel, utility representatives, permitting agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders. The position requires a combination of technical design ability, field awareness, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Remote Work Option: While this position may be performed remotely, new hires must attend their first day and onboarding activities in person at a DEA office. DEA will arrange and cover associated travel costs.
What You’ll Do
Key Responsibilities :
- Exemplify DEA’s Cultural Drivers internally and externally
- Design projects that will maintain and support various electrical utility systems by designing and creating detailed drawings, specifications, staking, site walk-downs, construction support, bill of materials, and cost estimates for distribution systems
- Collaborate with team members in an open communication culture, providing support in various disciplines as needed, including surveying, environmental, permitting, project management, and engineering
- Perform electrical system modeling and analysis. Prepare written reports and information related to analysis
- Help ensure that designed electrical facilities meet NEC, NESC, RUS and Cooperative and Specific utility standards
- Develop the project understanding, approach, and work plan
- Manage communications among the project team and client
- Maintain the technical quality, knowledge, and expertise of the work
- Implement the project QA/QC plan
- Some travel for project execution may be required
What You Bring
Required Qualifications :
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and utility construction
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other Design Software
- Strong ownership, written and oral communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to make decisions with guidance in accordance with established policies and procedures and use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner
Preferred Qualifications :
- 3 or more years of experience in distribution line design
- Competency in Spida-Calc, Pole Foreman, O-Calc or other similar design programs
- Engineering principles used in electrical utility system; RUS specifications and work order procedures; NESC and NEC regulations; legal descriptions, easements, and the permit application process; understanding of computer modeling of electric systems; essentials of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- Familiar with industry-specific technology and terminology
- Familiarity with Distribution Design Studio is highly desirable

- Potential salary range: $35.00/hour - $45.00/hour
