FIRST FINANICAL CENTER
The First Financial Center is located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, within blocks of top-rated restaurants, bars, pro-sports venues and attractions. First Financial Center has an innovative design that can accommodate both large and small groups. The First Financial Center recently completed a $264M reimagination and offers a 40,000 sq. ft. grand ballroom, 200,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, and 30 deluxe meeting rooms.
THE ROLE
Under general direction from the leadership team, the Engineering Technician I performs a variety of semi-skilled inspection, testing, maintenance, installation and repair tasks in multiple trades to maintain systems, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and campus in proper condition. As well as to provide temporary electrical, air, water and gas services in support of exhibitions, trade shows and other events. This position may include assignment of up to a 12-hour work shift, varying days and shift times including nights, holidays, and weekends. In the absence of management, the Engineering Technician 1 may receive functional event related instructions from the Event Manager(s), or general instructions from the Director of Operations or Assistant General Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
- Maintains a safe, secure, pleasant environment for clients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Follows Convention Center policies and procedures, applicable codes, and safety regulations.
- Performs inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, safety and building systems; equipment, structures and components as required or assigned, using standardized procedures or specialized instructions from higher skill level technicians or supervisor.
- Operates Building Control Systems for the purpose of controlling space temperature and lighting.
- Layout, install and remove temporary electrical, air, water, and gas services in support of exhibitions, trade shows, and other events.
- Accurately inputs data and maintains documents for recording materials used or required, work needed or performed, client billing, time utilized, monitoring physical conditions, and report generation.
- Responds to requests promptly and perform tasks with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
- Proactively inspects facilities and equipment while acting promptly to address problems found.
- Performs all assigned tasks and conducts themselves in a professional manner.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of position requirements and attends in-service education classes.
- Uses and maintains various meters, test instruments, drills, saws and other power and hand tools in the performance of job duties.
- Utilizes powered aerial lifts, scaffolds and ladders to perform elevated work as needed.
- Maintains tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized fashion at all times.
- Utilizes and properly maintains assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Communicates work activities and status to leadership and affected departments in a timely manner.
- Performs work on their own with limited supervision. Plans work to minimize the time and material needed for proper completion.
- Maintains working knowledge of the facility, utility, and knows where to find life safety systems and operation.
- Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED (Trade school preferred, but not required)
- Two or more years of experience in commercial or facility general maintenance
- Experience in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Applications with Momentous and Bluebeam are preferred but not required

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to problem-solve
COMPENSATION
The starting hourly wage for this position is $23.08/hr. Competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
