Position Overview
The Undergraduate Enrollment Marketing Director provides strategic leadership for Butler’s undergraduate enrollment marketing efforts, developing and executing integrated marketing and communication strategies that support institutional recruitment goals. This role leads enrollment marketing efforts for all undergraduate audiences, including traditional residential first-year, transfer, and international students, as well as emerging education models such as Founder’s College and Butler Overseas. The Director supervises undergraduate enrollment marketing staff and works in close partnership with Enrollment Management while leading cross-functional collaboration across University Marketing to translate enrollment priorities into coordinated, high-quality execution.
Responsibilities
- Direct the development of integrated enrollment marketing and communication strategies across print, email, digital, social, and web channels for all undergraduate audiences, including traditional residential first-year, transfer, and international students, as well as new education models such as Founder’s College and Butler Overseas. Develop and execute targeted marketing strategies for key influencer audiences—including parents and families, school counselors, and educators—to strengthen visibility with prospective students.
- Lead day-to-day undergraduate enrollment marketing operations, setting priorities and serving as the primary point of contact for campus partners. Translate enrollment priorities into integrated marketing strategies and lead cross-functional University Marketing teams through a matrix model to deliver them. Supervise undergraduate enrollment marketing staff, manage the Admission communications budget, and oversee external vendors.
- Support Admission and Financial Aid recruitment efforts—including student search, application generation, visits and events, travel, decision release, yield, and financial aid packaging—by developing and managing effective enrollment marketing and communication strategies.
- Develop and lead enrollment marketing strategies to bring new and emerging educational models to market (e.g., Butler Overseas, Founder’s College), establishing scalable go-to-market frameworks that support growth.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Management and campus partners to inform and enhance campus visit and event programming, contributing enrollment marketing strategy, audience perspective, and brand and messaging guidance to strengthen the overall prospective student experience.
- Partner with Enrollment Management on undergraduate market growth and student search strategy, managing lead generation vendors and communications and leading ongoing evaluation of tools, lead sources, and marketing partners.
- Lead communication strategy for incoming student processes and key onboarding milestones (e.g., Housing, New Student Registration, Orientation), partnering with campus units to deliver a cohesive transition from admission through matriculation.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of relevant experience in an enrollment marketing, higher education marketing, or enrollment management/admission/recruitment role.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the enrollment landscape, trends, and business processes; fluency in enrollment data and prospective student lifecycles.
- Strong proficiency with CRM (Slate) and marketing automation platforms, with the ability to translate enrollment strategy into audience segmentation, communication journeys, campaign workflows, personalization, and performance measurement.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to resonate with high school–aged students and their influencers.
- Proven success in marketing competencies, including strategic marketing plan development, print media and direct mail, CRM/marketing automation, email marketing, and advertising.
- Strong project and workflow management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously while aligning teams and stakeholders around shared goals.
- Ability to interpret campaign performance insights and use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated skill in building relationships and working effectively with cross-functional partners across a complex organization.
- Ability to lead teams, supervise staff, and lead strategy across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior budget management experience
- Proficiency in Slate CRM or related CRM platform
