POSITION SUMMARY: Twelve-month, Tenure-track or Professor of Practice - open rank position designed to both grow and oversee the Master of Arts in School Counseling program in the School of Behavioral & Community Health.
This position will serve as the coordinator for the existing MASC program housed in the School of Behavioral & Community Health. This School is dedicated to a multicultural/social justice mission and is designed to graduate masters-level, license-eligible, PDE Certified School Counselors. The SoBach houses programs in social work, clinical counseling, school counseling, student affairs counseling, substance use counseling, expressive arts counseling, sport psychology, and undergraduate psychology majors among others.
In addition to coordinating the MASC program, the individual will have teaching, team-teaching, advising, course and curriculum development, accreditation and service responsibilities in the Graduate Counseling Programs and across the School of Behavioral & Community Health. The individual will also have service responsibilities within the framework of the broader School of Behavioral & Community Health, College of Health, across the University, and to the counseling profession. Faculty hired in a tenure track position will also have scholarship expectations.
Preference will be given to individuals with both face-to-face and online teaching experience (live synchronous and fully asynchronous), as well as clinical supervision experience. Ideally, applicants have the ability to teach:
- Specialized School Counseling courses
- Clinical counseling practice and supervision courses (counseling skills, group counseling, practicum, and internship)
- Multicultural/Feminist/Social Justice courses
- Counseling Foundations: Human Development, Counseling Theories, Professional Orientation & Ethics courses

The School of Behavioral and Community Health (SoBach) is a school with a mission of training students within a multicultural and social justice framework. SoBach is housed in the interdisciplinary College of Health emphasizes collaboration and interprofessional education across three units, the School of Behavioral & Community Health, the School of Nursing, and the School of Rehabilitation Sciences (which includes graduate programs in Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology). By combining an entrepreneurial spirit and a unique curricular structure, students and faculty are able to engage with one another across disciplines in a truly interprofessional educational environment modeled toward best practices in the clinical setting. This collaborative environment is designed to foster student learning and engagement while avoiding the traditional discipline-specific silos that impede learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The individual filling this position will serve as Program Coordinator for the MASC program
- The individual, in consultation with the Dean, will determine and oversee all aspects of these programs, including, but not limited to curricular design, course development, faculty, adjunct supervision, program administration, programmatic policies, student advising, student life management, marketing and outreach, and other duties as assigned.
- The individual, in consultation with the Counseling Programs Director will oversee the growth of the School Counseling program.
- The individual filling this position will oversee the admissions, student recruitment/marketing, and overall growth of both the MASC program, including strategic participation in partnership activities with internal and external partners to ensure the growth of the MSC program
- The individual filling this position will oversee school counseling student preparation for the PRAXIS and LPC examinations..
- The individual filling this position will oversee the certifying of school counseling students for Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification.
- The individual filling this position will oversee all PDE activities related to the school counseling program, including the periodic auditing of the program.
- The individual will investigate the development of certificate programs and continuing education offerings and will make recommendations to university leadership regarding these offerings
- The individual will be proficient in live teaching formats and classroom management
- The individual will be proficient in on-line learning platforms, hybrid learning, and on-line andragogy, as well as experienced in educating adult learners in a compressed educational format
- The individual will teach within the MASCand MCC programs and, as applicable, across the School of Behavioral & Community Health
- The individual will have an articulated scholarly agenda and clinical areas of expertise (if tenure-track)
- Faculty in the School of Behavioral & Community Health and the College of Health are also expected to collaborate in team-teaching within the program(s), participate in interprofessional education across the School and College, and assist in all aspects of program design, development, implementation, assessment, and administration
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A doctorate in School, Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field - or - enrollment in a doctoral degree program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field - or - a master’s degree in clinical counseling, school counseling, counseling psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years, full-time experience working in school counseling either in the field or in academia
- Expert knowledge of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, including certification and other relevant processes
- Previous post-secondary teaching experience in both on-line (synchronous & asynchronous) and face-to-face courses
- Ability to regularly interface, in person, with school districts and other relevant stakeholders local to Moravian
- Demonstrated commitment to a multicultural/social justice framework, and a willingness to cultivate anti-racist, diversity, equity, and inclusivity (ADEI) in all aspects of education, advising, and assessment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Evidence of a scholarly record or solidified research interests (tenure track appointment only)
