Laboratory Technician FT
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Laboratory Technician to support our clinical team at our free-standing emergency room hospital. This role involves assisting with basic laboratory tasks, specimen collection, and supporting laboratory operations to ensure efficient patient care in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience or training in laboratory procedures is a plus, but no degree is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and prepare specimens such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids following established protocols.
- Assist with basic laboratory testing under supervision, including preparing samples and operating simple lab equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory area and equipment.
- Follow safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Record and document laboratory activities accurately.
- Support inventory management of supplies and reagents.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to provide timely assistance.
- Follow instructions and protocols provided by licensed laboratory personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting is required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures.
Work Environment:
This role involves working in a clinical laboratory within an emergency room setting, with exposure to biological materials and the need for strict safety practices. Flexibility in scheduling, including potential on-call hours, may be required.
