About this role
Description
As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers' businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.
Are you excited about defining a new category of software, AI teammates that help people learn and grow in the flow of their work? Do you want to shape how millions of professionals build skills, earn certifications, and get better at their jobs every day? Do you want direct and immediate impact on the way people and AI learn together?
As part of the AWS Training and Certification team, we are building AI learning teammates: agentic systems that don't just answer questions or hand out courses, but work alongside people, notice where they are getting stuck, and turn everyday tasks into moments of learning. Instead of pulling people out of their work to take a class, these teammates bring the right guidance, practice, and credential right into the tools and tasks they already use. This is a new product space where the right experience is still being invented, and we are looking for a product leader who partners deeply with design to define it.
As a Senior Product Manager - Technical, External Services, you will partner with design and lead the development of AI learning teammates, owning the product vision, requirements, and roadmap from concept through go-to-market. You will champion the needs of learners and the organizations that train and certify them, and translate ambiguous, open-ended problems into clear product definitions and detailed business requirements documents. You will work hand-in-hand with design, engineering, science, learning scientists, and operational stakeholders to prioritize the roadmap and spearhead the definition of new capabilities.
This role sits where product, learning, and design meet. A great learning teammate is built on more than a strong model and solid systems. It depends on trust, on clear interaction patterns, and on how it feels to be coached while you work. You will co-own the end-to-end experience with design. That spans how a teammate joins a team, how it surfaces learning in the flow of work, how it recognizes mastery and guides someone toward certification, and how people stay in control of their own development.
The successful candidate must have exceptional problem solving skills, strong business judgment, and demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams. We are looking for a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous projects that will be industry defining. This position requires a solid technical background, and the candidate should be customer-focused with a passion for learning, AI, agents, and the future of how skills are built.
AWS Training and Certification helps people and organizations build the cloud and AI skills they need to be successful, from foundational learning through role-based certifications recognized across the industry. As a member of this team, you'll support the development and management of AI-powered learning experiences that reach learners worldwide, including the agentic learning teammates that will define the next decade of how people grow their skills.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with design to define and own the end-to-end experience for AI learning teammates, from onboarding and interaction patterns to how learning is delivered in the flow of work.
- Define product requirements and author business requirements documents that align engineering, design, science, learning scientists, and leadership around a shared vision for each capability.
- Own the roadmap for one or more learning teammate product areas, making trade-off decisions across competing priorities, customer commitments, and technical investments.
- Represent the product externally with enterprise customers, translating their workforce development and certification needs into product direction and measurable adoption goals.
- Drive cross-team alignment to ensure teammate capabilities are composable and reusable across the learning portfolio, partnering with learning science and certification stakeholders to keep in-the-flow experiences grounded in proven learning principles.
A day in the life
You might start your morning in a design review, working through the interaction model for how a teammate offers a quick coaching moment the instant someone hits a task they haven't done before. By midday, you are reviewing skill-progression and certification-completion metrics and preparing a decision narrative for leadership on a proposed new capability. In the afternoon, you connect with learning scientists and engineering to pressure-test whether an in-the-flow learning experience is effective and feasible this quarter, then close out by refining requirements for the next capability and drafting a narrative that will guide customer-facing conversations.
