Description

The Digital Data Steward plays a critical role in ensuring Liberty Mutual’s digital data is trusted, governed, and actionable — helping the enterprise make smarter decisions about customer, agent, and employee digital experiences. The Digital Data Steward provides leadership over the quality, integrity, consistency, and timely availability of digital analytics and operational data, with a focus on strengthening governance, standards, and business usability across complex digital domains. This role helps connect business goals, digital measurement practices, and data management disciplines so that data can be used confidently to drive experience improvements, operational efficiency, and strategic outcomes.

**Level of position offered will be based on skills and experience at manager discretion**

**This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location**

Candidates who live within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office two days per week. Otherwise, this role is remote.

Responsibilities:

- Under the broadest management direction, implements, automates, and strengthens data management controls across a single function with a regional scope in mind.

- Supports trusted, well-governed digital and operational data used across the enterprise.

- Identifies and manages the resolution of highly technical data quality issues in a cost-effective and timely manner.

- Helps resolve data issues that impact the measurement of digital experiences, operational performance, and business outcomes.

- Identifies data quality metrics and thresholds in partnership with business data owners, digital product partners, and end users.

- Ensures data is fit for purpose for reporting, analytics, operational use, and decision-making.

- Develops and defines data validation strategies to strengthen data governance, stewardship, and security practices.

- Establishes and supports controls that improve the consistency, reliability, and usability of governed data.

- Partners with stakeholders to define business-relevant metrics and data standards.

- Ensures key metrics, standards, and definitions are documented, understood, and applied consistently.

- Influences decision makers on the value, priority, and adoption of data solutions and governance practices.

- Communicates clearly how technical design, controls, and stewardship practices support business needs.

- Presents complex technical and data management concepts clearly to senior audiences and cross-functional partners.

- Maintains a strong command of industry trends, business processes, and emerging data management practices.

- Applies knowledge of data governance and business process trends to improve data reliability, usability, and governance outcomes.

- Provides broader knowledge sharing, coaching, and technical guidance to team members and partners.

- Demonstrates a strong understanding of architecture best practices in support of data-related solutions.

- Helps shape solutions that meet both technical requirements and business needs.

- Drives continuous improvement efforts that strengthen data controls, governance practices, and overall solution quality.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Experience with DIgital or Web Analytics Tools (such as Adobe Analytics, Heap, ContentSquare, or Google Analytics)

Qualifications

- Strong written and oral communication skills required

- Familiarity with Agile practices

- Familiarity with process management a plus

- 7-10+ years coding experience in data management, data warehousing, or unstructured data environments

- 6+ years as a managing data steward or equivalent role preferred

- 1-3 years experience with Hadoop stack and NoSQL tools a plus
